Ratings for Dr. Johannes Malan
Dr. Malan has been our doctor for almost six years. It took awhile to get used to his personality but now hope he will be around a long while to take care of us. He is thorough and found Dr. Malan to go above and beyond. He did not give up on my husband. We highly recommend.
My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Malan for over 4 years now. I was not necessarily impressed at the beginning. Our previous family dr was one big disappointment and I welcomed the change. My husband saw Dr. Malan more often than I did, however last year when I saw him in July with a mild abdominal pain and signs of bloating his care, sense of urgency and vast knowledge has changed my life. What I thought to be an annoying and mild pain ended up being ovarian cancer. I will always remember that last week of July when Dr. Malan sent me for blood tests and looked up all the labs that were open at 5 : 15 pm to send me to the closest one possible; sent me to x-rays and ultrasounds; he consulted the gynecologist on call to make sure he delivered the correct diagnosis. There was worry in his eyes and compassion there was also thorough research behind his message. I appreciate how knowledgeable and passionate he is and I believe in his care you will always have a sense of a good balance between science and kindness.
It took me awhile to warm up to Dr Malan, however I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him nor would I ever want to lose him. He is knowledgeable, well educated and not medication focused (however very medication smart). I am glad to be in his care and continue to drive accross the city... it is worth it.
I went to see him about pain in my knee. He did not bother to examine the knee and tole me to take. I had to ask for an x-ray. When I returned to get the results he said the x-ray revealed nerve compression in the lower back. He said nothing could be done but to take Tylenol. Again, he did not bother examining the knee or my back. Given the nerve compression, I asked if physiotherapy would help. He said no. I went for physiotherapy anyway. After looking at the x-ray the physiotherapist explained how the nerve compression and tight muscles were causing the knee pain. After 4 treatments the knee pain was gone. I have since switched doctors.
I have been going to doctor Mulan for two years now. He i an average doctor, average wait times and average staff. Nothing to brag about but nothing to complain about until my last appt, do disappointing. Scheduling messed up my time, the nurses didn't send out my previous tests for diagnostic and dr Mulan didn't seem to care that I had wasted an hour of my day. When they messed up on multiple levels. He is a nice guy and I think he is knowledgeable on something things, but women's health is not one of them. I will be switching doctors.
Dr. Malan was great. His staff made room for me to see him the same day (as I said I could not wait). He sent me for blood work right of way. We followed up on the result and I needed more blood test. He was very concerned and knowledgeable. After being in the hospital HE asked for a follow up (does not come too often from a Dr.)
