Dr. Vital did a wonderful, perfect job of removing my cataract. Office staff is helpful & positive. I did not feel that I received a helpful explanation before surgery from one of his nurses about the procedure itself, or the follow up schedule. She basically said, "You're going to be so happy and this will be over so quickly." Since then, have found a video version and good explanation of entire procedure on his website. If nurse doesn't have time to explain what will happen (including anesthesia and an approximate time frame for the day of your surgery) then be sure to tell patients to read description and watch the video. Also, because of my particular job- his office hours made it difficult to schedule follow up appointments. Nevertheless~ I love my clear, sharp vision!

I am estatic about my visit with Dr. Vital. I was losing my sight as a result of diabetic cataracts. Dr. V's office treated me like family and their wisdom is simply incredible. I was totally at ease. After my surgery, I simply found myself in tears as a result of finally being able to see my face, as well as my wife's and children's faces. I felt as though I had received a new prize in life! Thank YOU so much for what YOU do. Even though it's your profession, and you've experienced this for years , this was the first time in my life that I've experienced this limitation. I didn't know how much I missed my eyesight! Blessings to all of YOU! I thoroughly recommend Dr. Vital whose experiencing this problem!!

Dr. Vital is a wonderful doctor. He's very compassionate and makes you feel that he cares (and he truly does) and puts your mind at ease. I had my surgery done by Dr. Vital over a year ago. I am more than pleased with the outcome. I am 60 plus years old and I had worn eye glasses all my life. After my first surgery with Dr. Vital , I could actually see with out my glasses. I could drive at night and believe me, this was a miracle too me. My only regret is not having the surgery done earlier. Dr. Vital is a great asset to your practice. He's an excellent doctor, eye surgeon and he cares about his patients. He treats his patients like family. Thank you, Dr. Vital.

I only have one complaint. The young lady who does the paper work for pr-surgery never looks up at you and although she seems nice she comes across as angry. I have dealt with her two times. The first time I thought it was me or that she was just having a bad day. But the second time was no different. The rest of the staff were very helpful and pleasant!

Biography

I was born in Beaumont, Texas but was quickly transplanted to Littleton, Colorado when I was just two months old. Colorado taught me to weather the cold and I soon learned to love the snow and became an enthusiastic skier. Each student of my sixth grade science class was assigned an organ of the body and instructed to write an informational paper on that organ. My assigned organ was the eye and I still have that report. Ever since, I have been passionate about the sense of sight and its preservation. The idea of entering medicine was an early and easy decision. My road through advanced education began with a move back to Texas in 1984 where I attended Cypress Creek High School in northwest Houston. I then attended Rice University and was elected President of Baker College. After graduating from Rice in 1993, I attended The University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas where I was lucky enough to meet my wonderful wife Kathie. At the conclusion of medical school in 1997, we returned to Houston where I completed my internship at St. Joseph Hospital and my ophthalmology residency at The University of Texas Hermann Hospital. My relationship with Houston Eye Associates (HEA) began in 2001 with my fellowship in Cornea and External and Infectious Disease with Dr. Jeffery Lanier. I was conferred certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2002. I was honored to join Houston Eye Associates in 2002 because of the achievements and dedication of the physicians and staff that comprise the group. As the largest ophthalmology practice in Texas, HEA is able to offer its patients and consulting doctors advanced diagnostic testing and expert eye care in all of the sub-specialties of ophthalmology.
