He graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame and went on to study biophysics and physiology at Georgetown University. He received his medical degree from Michigan State University and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Michigan State University McLaren, where he served as chief resident.\r\n\r\nHe is fellowship trained in arthroscopy and sports medicine from the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama where he learned complex arthroscopic and open surgical techniques to treat injuries to the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle including joint preservation and replacement. He currently treats athletes at the high school, collegiate, Olympic and professional levels.\r\n\r\nHe is an Associate Clinical Professor at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and continues to be involved in medical student and resident education.\r\n\r\nDr. Siwiec served as an Orthopedic Team Physician for Oakland University Athletics. He also serves as a a physician providing medical coverage for the US Ski and Snowboard Teams.\r\n\r\nDr. Siwiec has volunteered and trained on international medical missions to the Philippines, Central Africa, and the Amazon of Brazil. Locally, he is an active volunteer with Michigan Adaptive Sports, a chapter of Disabled Sports USA, teaching downhill skiing to persons with
