After Dr. Bello performed my husbands cataract surgery, he had to have a 2nd cataract surgery with another Dr. since the first one was not very effective. The staff is rude and act like they are doing you a favor for fitting you for contacts. Then Dr. Bello made a couple inappropriate comments towards me and acted very unprofessionally. I know he was joking, but I appreciate if a doctor acts professionally when I pay him for his time. I think its a bad custom to tell dirty jokes and make inappropriate comments when you are talking to patients and their family members. I'm not your buddy at the bar, I'm the wife of a patient and I deserve a little respect. We are never going there again.
His office staff is as sweet and professional as they come. Betsy and Joanna were more helpful and informative than Dr. Bello. The reviews posted that describe him as quick are true. This is a man on a tight schedule and body language supports that observation. As a new patient I expected much more dialogue regarding my concerns and issues within a relaxed atmosphere. The rush I felt in his presence was so palpable! I'm sure he is extremely smart, but I need to feel like I'm welcomed and not like I'm holding him up. I am not looking for warm and fuzzy, but he made me feel like I was on a production line. Fortunately my eyes are fine, but if a problem should ever develop I will absolutely go see another MD.
Paid $5,600.00 out of pocket for surgery that did not fix the problem: pain from headlights at night. I feel I was misled about the cost and the surgery. They refused to forgive the last bill of $644.00 which I requested. Instead, they threatened to go to a collections agency. I would not recommend Bello unless you have a lot of cash.
I noticed I was having some redness and irritation in one of my eyes, and after asking around for a good eye doctor, I was told to see Dr. Bello, that he was the best. I was able to get in the next day after calling to schedule an appointment to my delight. The whole process went very well, his staff was very courteous, and everyone knew exactly what they were doing. Dr. Bello did a great job of explaining to me what was going on, and how to treat my eyes, and after a week, they were back to normal. I will definitely be going back to see him, and will be bringing my kids in when they need their eye exams for school!
Found out I had cataracts. Suggested I get Crystalens so that I would be able to see close, far and inbetween. I paid an additional 3300.00 over what the insurance paid for these special lenses. After surgery can see fairly far, but cannot see close at all. I still wear glasses all the time so why did I waste $3300.00. My night vision is so bad now with starbursts and halos that I can hardly drive. Doctor has not accepted responsibility for failed surgery. I had a lot of trouble understanding his explanations.He speaks in all medical jargon. Office is like an assembly line. Would not recommend.
I've been going to Dr Bello for 7 years. When my husband had a vision problem, Dr Bello found cataracts, operated and my husband can now see like an eagle. He had no problems after surgery whatso ever and Dr Bello saw him postop the same afternoon so I wouldn't have to take and extra day off.
