I agree definitely with the other review. She definitely does not control the group and allows people to ramble on so that not everyone gets to participate. She declares at each meeting that she will limit the time per person, but it's never done. Some people take over the group and brag about the medication they're getting - I suspect some of them are hooked by the way they talk. Several express fear that they will be taken off their opioids, but Susan assures them that she will take care of it. I hear participants talk about taking the same medication (morphine, hydrocordone) for years. Complaining is endless in this group and not always about pain. In addition we get to hear how someone messed up feeding their dog, they don't like their aunt, etc. Susan never comes up with any positive solutions other than just showing up at the meeting and saying "next" when someone has finally felt they finished talking. And, yet the group continues as is. Can you imagine the same people coming for a few years with the same condition - it's like a meetup.

She conducted a group support program at Kaiser permanente for chronic pain. The group was mis-managed with various people in the group talking for about 10-15 minutes in a one-hour program. A lot of it wasn't about the pain as much as other trivia and when this happened, it meant not everyone in the group got a chance to talk about their particular physical problem. Things like someone bringing up something political events or dislike of their in-laws - just totally out of context and there was no control by our "mediator" (Susan Fitts). The same thing was voiced by her at every meeting - that she was going to limit people in the amount of time allotted to speak. No solutions were offered and I just didn't see the benefit we were supposed to be getting. Where was the guidance. Very, very poor management and a lackadaisical attitude - kind of like just putting in time.
