There is nothing more rewarding than seeing patients leave my practice happier for the experience, and healthier, as well.\"\r\n \r\nHe is also proud to be recognized internationally as both a teacher and a leader in the dental profession. Many weekends find him helping other dentists learn the nuances of what it takes to create beautiful, long lasting smiles by presenting lectures on aesthetic and real-world dentistry. “It’s great to help other dentists see what dentistry can truly be for their patients,” he says, “and it’s even greater to see the change high quality dentistry can make in patient’s lives. For me, a beautiful and healthy smile is about reflecting the person's soul underneath.\"\r\n \r\nA member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) since 1998, Dr. Sullivan’s passion for his profession eventually led him to an even higher level of service; for many years he served as a member of the AACD Board of Directors, and was the 25th President of the AACD, serving in 2011-12. \r\n \r\n“The AACD is an incredible organization that is changing the way general and cosmetic dentistry is practiced across the globe. I’m proud to be an Accredited member, and was privileged that the membership allowed me to help shape their future,” Dr. Sullivan said. \r\n \r\nThe AACD is the world’s largest dental organization dedicated to Cosmetic Dentistry, and is recognized for having the profession’s most stringent, double-blind, peer-reviewed accreditation for specialization in cosmetic dentistry. The AACD also encourages and enforces the highest standards of ethical conduct and responsible patient care among dentists. Dr. Sullivan earned his Accreditation in 2006, which means he has earned a level of accreditation held by less than three hundred dentists worldwide.\r\n \r\nTestament to the membership’s trust in Dr. Sullivan is that the AACD membership has invited him to continue on in his role of leader, participating as a speaker at annual AACD conferences and representing the AACD in Sweden, Japan, and South Korea teaching what he knows so well.\r\n \r\nIn addition to teaching and leading his peers, Dr. Sullivan is constantly perfecting his own skills, learning and striving for excellence.\r\n \r\n\"As long as I'm practicing, I'll be learning. I had a front tooth crown that didn't quite match from another dentist. I went to Dr. Sullivan in hopes that after more than 5 years of hiding my teeth when I talked or smiled, I'd be able to get some confidence back. \r\n\r\nI'm uncomfortable all the time after a front tooth crown he placed back in June. I've made many, many visits back to get adjustments as none of my other crowns on this same tooth have been uncomfortable, so I knew it wasn't supposed to feel this way. At my last visit, as he was adjusting the back, he must have accidentally hit the bottom of the crown and sliced part of it off. This is one of my front two top teeth, and now one is shorter than the other. I noticed it immediately and asked him about it. He completely denied having done it, even though I pointed out that I walked into the office that day with both of my two front teeth being the same length. What followed is nothing short of shame tactics on his part. Telling me he can never make me happy (gaslighting), when all I've been striving for is to make my mouth comfortable again, the way it was before this crown. I never nit picked the aesthetics of his work. His crowns have all been beautiful and matched perfectly, which I've let him know each time.\r\n\r\nI went to a different dentist and upon examination he let me know that I am uncomfortable due to crowding on my bottom teeth (something Dr. Sullivan had recognized in December and was working on for me). Basically, my bottom tooth wants to be where my crown is, so of course I'm uncomfortable. I'm going to an orthodontist next and hope to finally feel better.\r\n\r\nWhat's heartbreaking is that I am hiding my smile again, as the bottom of the crown has been sliced off. And since I don't plan to get the crown replaced, I will be hiding my smile for a very, very long time. I don't expect perfection in dentists, as they are human, too! But owning up to and admitting mistakes instead of gaslighting and demeaning me would have been a better way to handle that situation. I probably wouldn't have gone back, but I also wouldn't be writing this review right now.\r\n\r\nTo his credit, he did give me all my money back.
