Ratings for Dr. Matthew E. Levy
I am a very young rather healthy individual who was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease after giving birth. I was in utter shock that my body had let me down. Being a registered nurse I knew a lot about my diagnosis but when it came to me it seemed like all my information went out the window. I was very anxious and eager to see Dr. Levy as it took a month to get a new patient appointment. The staff was pleasant throughout my entire month and a half with this practice. I had no issues with them at all. I built a friendly relationship with the receptionist, medical assistant and phlebotomist. Dr. Levy was very punctual and friendly upon my first visit. He explained a lot and smiled while talking. The initial part of the visit was nice. Even though I am an RN and learned the medical sides of things I personally do not believe things happen for no reason which is what he told me was the cause of my autoimmune disease. As I started to ask more detailed questions about the role of stress and poor diet in the development of autoimmune diseases helpful attitude changed and he shut down all of my questions with short responses. He became sour and told me there was no evidence that supported my claims. Mind you, I had no intention of arguing with the man, I simply had questions because I am in a vulnerable position and wanted to know what I could do different to help. I left that apt thinking, wow, what a waste of money. I didn't expect him to be a natural-path by any means but damn, couldn't he have been a little more helpful. Fast forward a month and a half I had 2 blood draw in between. He sent me my results the next morning for both as well as gave me a message online for suggestions. I thought this was very professional which made me want to give him a second chance. I finally saw him again after a month and a half. At this apt I informed him I had to decrease my hours (due to physically feeling terrible) and that I lost health insurance but signed up for Obamacare and would have it in 30 days. He decides to cancel my liver function / CBC labs which are very important as the medication I am taking is known to cause liver damage and wipe out your white blood cells. I asked him, ummm isn't it important to check these labs as you haven't checked them at all yet. He ignores the questions and ask if I want to come back in 6 weeks or 3 months? HAAAA. are you kidding me. He didn't check the correct labs and seriously suggested I wait an entire 4 + months from being on the toxic medication before looking at it. All he heard was "I don't have insurance" and automatically my health meant nothing to him. He was so rude this visit and kept making statements like "if you get insurance, when you get it" as if I were lying. Mind you, I was only going to be without coverage for 30 DAYS and I paid my bill in full on the way out. I figured he was rude from the first visit but that was the icing on the cake. The healthcare system in America is jacked up but I had never met a physician who was that rude, cared about money over people and was a know-it-all. I was really disappointed and now this practice will not see one more of my pennies. I plan on going else where in 29 days when my health insurance restarts.
i cant blame the staff for being mean. it trickles down when the man u work for is rude inconsiderate and a self proclaimed know at all. so i am writing this to be as polite as possible, however the truth hurts sometimes. dr matthew e levy does not look at a patience history to see what meds they should and shouldn't take. he has given my girlfriend, who unfortunately is a type 1 diabetic a HRT which the FDA ruled against giving diabetics. as stated this medication is not to be mixed w any diabetic medication, it is also known to cause insulin resistance. my girlfriends quality of life is already at stake with the 8 autoimmune deceases. this combipatch he prescribed is not to be taken if u have thyroid problems and take meds for it. of course she has Hashimotos and dr levy overlooked that as well. it is now my life's goal to tell everyone who cross's paths with me that this dr is negligent and must only care about his money not the person. i WILL seek out another dr who cares.
Before making an appointment with Dr. Levy I read his reviews online. Most of them are negative. Undeterred, I made an appointment anyway. I only had to wait a week, and now I know why. First off, the receptionist couldn't have been more unfriendly and distracted. When I saw Dr. Levy and explained to him that I thought I had a thyroid disorder or hormone imbalance, he dismissed me because my thyroid tests were normal. When I told him I was having trouble losing weight even with diet and exercise, along with many other symptoms, he told me to "just count calories". I saw someone else who had enough sense to test my other hormone levels, and wouldn't you know it, progesterone and estrogen were way out of whack. Thanks for nothing Dr. Levy. Don't waste or time or money with this one.
He made me feel terrible about myself every visit for over a year! If I were a 100lbs overweigh it still wouldn't be right to treat someone this way. I can't believe he would suggest gastric bypass to patiends with 50lbs to lose that have been losing weight. He went as far as to refer surgeon's office to call me. A side note my 27 year-old best friend died after this procedure. I left in tears everytime and would find myself looking for excuses to cancel my appointments. Finally found a new Doctor and feeling better about going to my appointments.
I found Dr. Levy to be very professional and knowledgeable. I had done my research and self diagnosed myself, From the moment I walked in we discussed my symptoms, labs, and he made a diagnosis and plan of action. I found him to be very personable unlike many docters who think they are GOD. He was truely caring and listened to all my concerns and was not intimidated by the research I had done on my own behalf. He and his staff were very accomidating. I would recommend him to family and friends without hesitation.
His staff was okay. Dr. Levy himself was a HORRIBLE, mean, and condescending person. He treated me terribly, did nothing for me, and then billed me. He was unprofessional, and very nasty. DO NOT waste your time with this one, he cares for no one, just money.
