After he helped thousands of patients, Dr. Ku and his wife became fertility patients themselves. After three years of trying on their own, they still were not able to start their family they had dreamed about. After five rounds of IVF, Dr. Ku and his wife welcomed a son. Eighteen months and another IVF later, they welcomed a daughter, making their family feel complete.\n\nDr. Lowell Ku received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science from Emory University. He then went on to get his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where he also served as class president all four years.\n\nDr. Ku completed training in both family medicine and obstetrics and gynecology at John Peter Smith Hospital where he was elected chief resident for both residencies. As an Ob-Gyn resident, Dr. Ku was awarded the prestigious Pritchard Prize Paper Award given by the Texas Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the best resident research.\n\nDr. Ku was also honored with numerous recognitions including the Outstanding Medical Specialty Resident Award in 2004 and 2005. He also was honored by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists with an award for Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures.\n\nDr. Ku went on to complete a three-year fellowship in the most established training program at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in the division of reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
