Ratings for Dr. David L. Wilkey
I recently had my tonsils taken out by Dr. Wilkey and wasn't provided with the best service from him or his assistant. When scheduling my first appointment I told the secretary that I needed to get my tonsils taken out during my holiday break in December because I am a teacher and didn't want to take time off of work. After having my first appointment in August, I was told that in order to have my surgery in December I would need to come back in November because the anesthesiologist prefers that I am seen one month before surgery. I had to come back a second time in November and pay a second copay. If his office knows that the anesthesiologist wants to see patients one month before surgery, then they should have scheduled my first appointment in November after I told them my surgery would need to be done during my break in December. Instead, I had to go to his office twice and pay two copays. After having my appointment in November, we scheduled a surgery date in December. This surgery date was then changed three times. I became frustrated because my surgery was now scheduled for a later date, which gave me less time to recover before I went back to work. I called to speak with Dr. Wilkey's assistant to ensure my surgery date wouldn't change for a fourth time and she told me that appointments are never guaranteed. I found her statement to be frustrating because that defeats the whole purpose of setting an appointment. Not to mention his assistant was not the friendliest over the phone or in person. When she heard my frustration over the phone, she laughed and seemed to think it was funny that I was irritated over being in their office twice and being rescheduled for surgery three times. The day of my surgery was scheduled for 10am and I was to be at the surgery center at 9am. As I started to leave my house at 8:40am, I received a phone call from the surgery center receptionist stating that Dr. Wilkey was ahead of schedule and wanted me to get to the surgery center as soon as possible. I found this to be insulting because 20 minutes before I was told to be at the surgery center, I was obviously leaving my house but Dr. Wilkey felt I needed to hurry. Not to mention all of the difficulties I had already endured in scheduling appointments with him. Finally, this doctor does not do post-op appointments after surgery. He is the first doctor I've ever known to not do post-op appointments after a surgery. Not to mention, I am an adult and the removal of my tonsils was much more painful than I anticipated. The reason I am writing this rather thorough complaint, which I have never had to do before, is because people should know how difficult he is to work with. Had I known I was going to deal with all of these issues, I certainly would have requested that I be seen by the other doctor in the office, Dr. Clark. I highly recommend that people do not be referred to Dr. Wilkey, and I will also be letting my doctor who referred me to him know. I have never been more dissatisfied with a doctor before. It truly was a disappointing experience.
Do yourself a favor and pass this so called doctor by! He and his office staff are the worst I have ever come in contact with. They charged me and my insurance company $1380 for the first 10min office visit. which in turn cost me out of pocket $788. He never did a thing for me and even sued me. Which in my opinion his office staff even lied under oath on the witness stand. They are only after the money, stay away!
He was very rude and painful. I had something in my ear. He chewed me out for using a Q-TIP. I had water in my ear and tried to clean it out. When he cleaned my ear it hurt and I pulled away and he said to sit still or he would not clean it out. I did as he instructed but I don't need his kind of help. Would not want anybody to deal with what I went through.
My daughter had surgery on the 22nd and almost 3 weeks after she is still in a lot of pain... She had to have a second surgery to stop bleeding and today he had the nerve to tell me and my daughter she is milking it.. I will never go back to him.. He didn't even act like he wanted to deal with it she has burning sharp pains all the way into her collar bone and numb feeling in her cheek.. Still can't eat without crying... I hope no one else has to deal with this kind of treatment as for surgery he never said a word to her and was busy talking to someone else about a game ...
The doctor was not very nice nor was his staff. I waited for my surgery 2 hours from the time I was supposed to be there. After surgery he would not come talk to me cause he had burned my mouth all over on the inside. His own partner tried to go get him and he wouldn't come talk to me. He told his partner to tell me if it doesn't heal come see him.
I was alarmed when the nurse used my full name to call me from the waiting room. I talked to the office manager about this practice. I requested the option to tell the receptionist that in the future,I would like only my first name called. she said absolutely not, That my name would be called always first and last. I told her I was sorry and that I would not come back. She said okay.
