Ratings for Dr. Vadankumar M. Patel
At first I thought he was simply a jerk, but now I think he may actually be incompetent. A typical visit begins with him calling your name from his office and then letting the door slam in your face as he rushes to sit at his desk, as he is unwilling to handle the indignity of holding the door open for you. He will then ask you questions from a checklist, and if you dare speak out of turn or elaborate on a response he will explode in a hissy fit. After his tantrum, he will possibly review and ignore the notes of the therapists under his charge, the ones who actually take the time to know you and your issues, and then either do nothing or increase your medication and tell you to come back in a few months. Don't expect to get a nuanced diagnosis, as that would require a degree of effort on his part and according to him psychological problems are all behavioral in origin and treatment. Hearing voices? Just stop listening to them. Depressed? Just, like, be happy and quit wasting his time by not being happy. Rage issues? Simply be calm instead. Medication, in his world, does little to nothing and it's all about positive thinking. If you can't think your way to functionality, too bad, as he refuses to fill out disability paperwork. If you want a more caring and modern minded doctor, take his advice and want the opposite, as if you're seeing him you're probably a charity case and don't have any other options.
