My dad had complications after a stomach surgery. The specialist felt like Dr. Vormohr could handle the complications. During the three weeks under his care my dad became much sicker, developing pneumonia and fluid in the lining of the lungs. My dad has lost 15 pounds and could not eat (throwing up anything he tried to eat...even just fluids). Dr. Vormohr's suggestion was to go to the Jay County Hospital every other day and get fluids. By the time my dad returned to the specialist a few weeks later, he was so weak he had trouble walking. A nutritional level should be at the minimum of a 20. When my dad was admitted in the hospital it was at a 7. He is now on a PIC line and being fed at night and will need to use home health care to continue the feedings once he comes home. If the fluid does not dissipate, my dad will need to have a tube inserted in his back to drain the fluids out of the tissue. Right now he is getting a very strong antibiotic in his IV for his pneumonia and fluid. He is getting daily shots in his stomach for blood clots. My father is a very active and healthy person. In the summer you can often find him riding his bike to Ft. Recovery and back. The lack of appropriate care has left my dad in a poor physical state and mental health condition. He is developing depression since he has felt so bad since back in November...mind you, this is the end of February. The other part of this unbelievable nightmare is that when my dad would call to see the doctor he would be given an appointment a week later, even in his condition. When he had to see the nurse practitioner, he waited in the patient room for over an hour. The whole time feeling nauseated and sick. Once my mom demanded that he be seen, in the hallway outside the room, Dr. Vormohr happened to be there and said he did not even realize my dad was at the office. My mom would call out to the office to ask a question and was told someone would call her back. At least on two occasions we still have not received a phone call. Often my mom would have to follow up because no one from the office was doing so. I was firm with my parents that they needed to get back in contact with the specialist. They felt like they needed to give their family doctor a chance. My mom is now saying that this was a big mistake and she will never see "Frank" again unless it is just for a sore throat or something simple like that. They have been doctoring with "Frank" since he joined his father's practice over 30 years ago. My sister and I went to Dr. Vormohr growing up and stayed with him until we were married and left the area. He really let our family down and put my father in a very compromised position. He is still in the hospital a week later from when we called the specialist and was told to come to the hospital asap... On the flip side, IU North in Caramel has done a fantastic job in being very thorough and giving my dad the best care possible. Our view on Dr. Vormohr will never be the same.

He couldn't be more unprofessional. What a terrible doctor. Threw a temper tantrum in front of patient and left the room. Poor diagnostician. Cowardly and an overall fool.

Very good at explaining things, very up to date on proceedures but at the same time still a small town doc, with a hometown attitude. How many doctors have you had that prefer you refer to them with their first name?
