Ratings for Dr. J. ALAN Vellinga
Have seen Dr. Vellinga for several years. Due to severe pain,he prescribed Oxycodone and Methodone in increasing doses without explaining the serious danger of addiction. Due to medical reasons I was unable to take the narcotics for several days. When I called his Office to report my severe symptoms, it was after hours. The exchange apologized and said the doctor does not take after hour calls. I called the next morning (Friday) in a panic. His nurse told me the doc would call me back on MONDAY. Only after stating that I would pursue help through another avenue did the nurse call the doc. She then called me back offering a mild antianxiety medication. She stated that the doc said there was nothing else to be done if I did not want to keep taking the narcotics.I have since seen an addiction specialist who was appalled by the lack of follow through or caring in what was a dangerous situation. His office has not tried contacting me to follow up and see how the issue was resolved.
The so called Doctor. Spent the whole hour of my visit telling me about his house and how many square feet it was. After an injection for my L4 and L5. I passed out. no one paid any attention to me. when I told them I was going to pass out and needed a cool rag for my neck the Vallinga said this is not a boutique, and said sarcasticly is there anything eles you need. 1 of the worst dr. appointments of my life.
Very unprofessional, rude to patients and staff. On my last follow-up, threw up his hands and told me he couldn't help me; made me feel like I was lying because his shots "work 80% of the time." Was very condescending to me. Made extremely rude remarks about the Doctor (because he doesn't know him) that referred me to my neurosurgeon. My opinion would be NOT to go to this doctor.
does not care about patients at all. its like we are all cattle being moved in and out as fast as possible. 3 visit still have not spoke with actual doctor! had a injection done which he was supposed to perform, which he did not. had some other doctor do it. stay away at all costs!
Prescribes medicine that he isn't responsible for or have enough knowledge about. Gave me a Tramadol script which is addicting and now I am addicted to and then when I run out he makes me make an appointment before he refills it. The appointment is not good enough though and I have to see him before he refills it. Because I am addicted this is very painful. I have had to seek urgent care 3 times to get enough Tramadol to hold me over. And he is kind of a dick. Has yelled at me over the phone. Don't go see this guy.
