Ratings for Dr. Youngsoon Hyun
Dr. Hyun has been my primary care physician since 2010. In my opinion and personal experience, she is the most thorough, knowledgeable, attentive, empathetic, and skilled primary care physician that I have ever met. I know by word-of-mouth that she is in very high demand by current and new patients, nevertheless both Dr. Hyun and her staff have always fit me into her schedule (or extended her hours) when necessary and appropriate. There is no other physician with whom I have developed such a level of trust, confidence, and a mutually beneficial doctor patient relationship. Similar to the character Nigel Tufnel in the movie "This is Spinal Tap," I would give Dr. Hyun "up to six stars."
I've been a patient of Dr. Hyun nearly my entire adult life, except for a few breaks due to insurance changes. She has really dropped off in the past couple of years. Before, I would have recommended her to anyone, but lately, it feels like she just doesn't care anymore. I question whether she is close to retirement or something bad happened in her personal life? I've had to change doctors.
She has been my mom's doctor and now my doctor for 16 years. You couldn't ask for a better doctor. My employer changed insurance providers and I pay extra just to be able to see her. She is knowledgeable, professional and just cares about her patients.
I went to see Dr. Hyun for a chronic sore throat & ear pain after reading the positive comments here. I wanted to get a physical and focus on trying to identify the underlying problem with my sore throats. After waiting about 50 min.s in the waiting room and then another 15 min. inside the examination room, she came in. It turns out there must have been a miscommunication while making the appointment (though I tried to be clear that I wanted a thorough examination) and she thought I just came in for the throat/ear issue. Regardless, she zoomed through the appointment( e.g., didn't take more than a second, yes a SECOND on checking the ear that I had problems with). She was so rushed she rarely looked at me. As she left the room; I wasn't sure if she was coming back in or not that I had to ask if I am done (to which she replied without turning back, "yes" as she was semi-running to the room next door). I'm very disappointed and will look for another doc.
