Ratings for Dr. Rajiv M. Joseph
I have been struggling with a sleeping disorder very similar to Narcolepsy, he took NO time to actually listen to what my symptoms were, he was rude and never let me finish mt sentences. I have never met a doctor who was so inconsiderate to their patient. It wasnt until I started to cry and tell him how much this disorder has effected my life that he ever took a second to look up from his computer. He also questioned if I really had alopecia areata, seperate.. that I have had for almost 10 years. sooooooo disappointing. DONT GO SEE HIM!
Dr. Joseph is a "good" dr in the eyes of my mother. She has been his patient for sometime now, even after I and my sister have tried to talk her into changing neurologist. The only good thing I can really mention is he has a spectacular nurse. She genuinely cares for his patients and is very knowledgable. (even though I have not seen her the past 2 visits)I always ask to speak to her to get things done. The office manager is USELESS!!!!! She is rude and very unprofessional. If I were rating her I would need alot more room to describe what h*ll she's put us through. It's a dissapointment that we have to deal with this in a healthcare setting. She just wants a paycheck and could careless about the patient's needs. If you chose to visit this doctor be prepared to get cut off when you speak. 95% of the time he's typing on his little computer probably thinking what plans he has for the weekend. He assumes things that are false and forwards them to your primary care physician!!! FRUSTRATING!
I can't speak to the Neurological aspect of his work. I have had a couple of sleep studies done and have not had any complaints. You really only see him for the consult and follow-up visits. He is not very personable, mainly types rather than talks. If you need a CPAP, go online and buy one. it'll save you money in the long run. Typically, insurance will rent the unit and end up paying 4 times the cost of the machine. Depending on you deductible, you could be out a bunch of money. Just ask what kind to get and get it yourself, file a manual claim for reimbursement. Overall, for sleep study I think he is fine. I probably wouldn't visit him for seizures or anything too serious.
DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR! He needs to lose his license! He has caused me more stress and his staff is terrible. His staff canceled my MRI without my consent!!! Very rude and he is not nice at all. He doesn't answer your question. He needs to LOSE HIS LICENSE!
I went to Dr. Joseph to be evaluated for possible sleep apnea. After meeting with him and undergoing a sleep study, I was indeed diagnosed with sleep apnea. After a second sleep study, he prescribed a CPAP machine for me that I wear at night. It has completely changed my life. I have nothing negative to say about his staff, they are very thorough and keep you informed throughout the whole process, especially during the sleep studies, which can be a bit unpleasant by nature. I always felt like I was in good hands, and I think Dr. Joseph has a wonderful bedside manner. He really puts you at ease and explains everything really well. I haven't used him for any other neurological issues, but if I ever need a brain doctor, he will be my first choice.
Dr. Joseph is a well informed and a very well educated individual. In my case, he spend time explaining the value and measures to improve my sleep habits. He helped me get off sleep medicines including Ambien that caused me to have memory problems. He spend a lot of time studying my old medical records and actually insisted on looking at pictures of my MRI studies on the computer. He is a very positive and encouraging person who made me good. He knows what he is doing and says it like it is. He appears to be a person who will not do something unless he is convinced it would help. I trust him. I continue to see him and recommend him.
I completely agree with everything other reviewer said. Dr. Joseph did not even listen to my symptoms and simply told me I had anxiety as well and should see a psychiatrist. He did not ask or listen long enough to hear that it was a psychiatrist that referred me to him because my insomnia is not related to anxiety. He refused to treat me at all, told me to take warm showers, get some therapy, and come back in four weeks. Before he even met with me, he required me to have two sleep studies done at his office. He never gave me a copy of the results, I later obtained them from a respiratory therapist assigned to me to treat my "apnea." Dr. Joseph told me I had "moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea." He said this could be treated with better "sleep hygeine" and a CPAP machine. The report, however, states that I have mild hypopnea and an irregular heartbeat. Dr. Joseph NEVER went over any of this with me.
