Ratings for Dr. Thomas J. Lehman
As with another comment here, he will scare you to death, then tell you that he will save you. In 20 minutes, he breezed through lab results, made a swift exam and diagnosed the worst possible condition which was proven incorrect by six other rheumatologists. Horrible.
I have been a patient of Dr. Lehman for 15 years. He has been wonderful through some very tough times and very good times. He is very realistic with his patients as he does not want to mislead. Rheumatology is something that is difficult in the first place, imagine trying to get a child to be able to know what's going on, or if things are getting worse, he is great with children, young and older. I have seen him run down the hallway with 2 year olds so he can see if there has been improvement. I can't say enough good things about him. We have his personal e-mail which he checks regularly throughout the day, and he returns calls himself. He has some staff members who are terrific, and some that are a little more difficult... Without any hesitation, I would (and have already!) recommend Dr. Lehman to anyone.
Staff did not return calls re sick child times two.If you are faint of heart, stay away from this doctor who is very knowledgeable and bright, but cynical and negative. He may use fear to get patients to comply. He believes that all children should know every possible negative outcome of their disease, even read his book. Perhaps if someone paid him enough he might return to research and discover some cures, rather than horrifying the parents of some of his patients.
