Ratings for Dr. Gilbert R. Meadows
I had heard only horror stories here in Corpus Christi from the local docs in 1995 so I went to go see Dr Meadows. My first surgery was L4-L5 and I had a complete fusion with hardware. I left the hardware in for 4 years and was pain free for a few more years. In 2002 I blew another disk and went back to Dr Meadows. I had another complete fusion of L3-L4 with hardware and again was pain free. It is now 2013 and the scar tissue from my first surgery is growing inside my epidural space and I have a bulging disk at L-2-L3. Although in the past I have been avoiding another surgery dur to other health conditions, I am considering going back to see Dr. Meadows. He is an excellent doctor, good motivator, supportive, and has a great staff and good bedside manner. One of the best compassionate doctors I have ever met. Each time I had surgery, he sat down with my wife, explained how it went and reassured her that he would do his best for me. I would strongly recommend him to others.
My daughter had a discogram over 22 years ago ordered br dr meadows. she got an infection, staff infection either from a dirty needle or the site of the injection was not sterile. She ended up in the hospital for one month with antibiotics going into her spine. To make a long story short, dr meadows was caring for her and I use the word loosly. She fell and he saw her, never believed she had that much pain. She would go to the office for help after the discogram but received no help. When she tried to get work men's compensation, he wrote there was nothing wrong with her. He didn't know she went to another dr. And immediately put her in the hospital because of the infection that dr meadows was responsible for. Her new dr said in 2 weeks or so she could have been paralyzed. DON'T go to him, please he doesn't give care that is needed.
Dr Meadows performed Anterior Cervical Fusion in 1993 on my neck. The doctors in Corpus couldn't find out what was wrong with me. I took my initial x-rays and Doc Meadows showed us where the trouble was. He performed the surgery using bone from a bone bank and a plate and 4 screws to repair the damaged discs in my neck. I felt immediate relief and felt better post surgery than I had since the accident which caused my injuries. Over the years he's checked on the plate and the placement. Doc Meadows did not give up on me as the other doctors did in Corpus. I was blessed to have been able to have him operate on me. I had another bad accident in 2001, but the plate and screws held and my neck was a bit stiff after the accident, but fine with a bit of rest. If you have spinal trouble and can't get it figured out, please go to doc Meadows and see if he can't help you. At times I believe that I owe him my life, I couldn't have lived with the intense pain day after day much longer. :)
