Ratings for Dr. Lawrence Perlmutter
Dr. Perlmutter was recommended by my previous eye doctor, who retired. Dr. Perlmutter is excellent, cares about what he does, and is committed to his patient's well-being. He is a humble man with a passion for what he does. The previous comment said it best-there is a reason for those long lines and waits. He is probably one of the last of those excellent, thorough doctors. His staff is grumpy and out of it. They need some cookies, milk and a nap! Other than that, he is a superior doctor, one of dying breed.
There is a reason why the choice restaurants have filled parking lots and long lines, tickets are difficult for the best NYC plays, and just try to get tickets for a Yankees / Boston World Series game. People vote with their feet. Dr. Perlumtter's waiting room is packed for a reason. He is the best around. He saved my sight numerous times. Enough said.
Although the wait is sometimes long,Dr. Perlmutter is top of the line in his field.Very, very smart and always willing to explain implications of his diagnosis. Very thorough. I have been going to him for many, many years and have complete confidence in him.
This doctor does not win any awards for bedside manner. He is usually very gruff and abrupt. When it was found I needed a new prescription due to cataracts, he was not helpful in getting a medical exception grant for my vision care. His waiting room and exam room are very small, cramped and crowded. I usually have to wait about 2 hours past my scheduled appointment time until I'm called in.
