Ratings for Dr. Russell E. Scheffer
Parents are part of Dr Scheffer's diagnosis/treatment plan ONLY if they immediately agree with his treatment plan. When we wanted a day to consider his diagnosis and treatment plan and to get a second opinion, our 14 year old teen was pressured in our absence to take meds that we had specifically instructed Dr Scheffer and his staff to wait to administer. According to our son, Dr Scheffer's staff pressured him to take the med, telling him, "It doesn't matter what your parents want; it's your decision." Overall we found Dr Scheffer to be narcissistic (full of himself) and rude when we did not immediately accept his evaluation and treatment plan. Needless to say we will not be asking Dr Scheffer, his staff or the Via Christi (Wichita) adolescent behavioral unit for any further assistance. The second opinion we obtained for our son varied greatly from Dr Scheffer's as did the recommended treatment plan, which includes us as parents as a major part of our son's treatment plan.
