Ratings for Dr. John R. Absher
His office closed last year but I agree with a lot of the comments here. Dr. Absher has joined the Greenville hospital staff but, I feel that he is no asset. Rude, smirky, poor bedside manner. Disinterested. Saw his PC more than Dr. Absher and he had his rude moments also. Couldn't get a final diagnosis after 5 years and he wasn't knowledgeable about a couple that I already had.
DR. Absher is a complete moron when it comes to epilepsy. I saw him for almost 5 years and at every appointment, they never tried to figure out the root problem of my epilepsy. He just shoved more pills down my throat. He told me that I would have this for the rest of my life and that there were no more options. I finally decided to leave his office and get more opinions... and here I am today, after finding a wonderful neurologist who actually dedicated his time and energy into finding the problem, I am now seizure free! :) Dr. Absher is a moron. thank you for nothing sir.
Dr. Absher diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia, even though I didn't have the symptoms that go along with this disease. I went to MUSC in Charleston and I was diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, due to bi-lateral cervical ribs. I was also charged for an ultrasound that I never had; he kept insisting that I did. I wasn't pleased with the service I got here.
My wife has MS and when we went to this Dr. I found him and his what you call him very rude no knowledge of what he was talking about did not want to hear what we had to say as if knew everything. Told us my wife had ADHD not MS. Way wife can hardly get around in pain forgets what she is talking about at times and no energy. I'm not a Dr. but that sounds nothing like ADHD to me. Any way it was a waste of time and money going to see him and his pet monkey. My Vet. does a better job then he does. So after 2 visits I was not bringing my wife back to that quak because I my have ended up going to jail. So please don't waste your tin with him because he won't believe you any way. If you do go to see him GOOD LUCK you'll need it.
I am shocked by some of these reviews and offended. I have always found Dr. Absher to be very professional. He is a neurologist and I have an expectation of someone in that field. He meets my expectation of knowledge, active listening, and concise and clear communication. I have no expectation that he is to entertain me. I find the front staff to be very courteous and helpful. By the way, I have never seen Dr. Absher look at his watch. I do not know if he even wears a watch. I see him on a monthly basis. I transferred to Dr. Absher from another Neurologist who I was very uncomfortable with.
We have switched neurologists because of long wait times and bad treatment. One time, my son and I were asked the same questions by 2-3 interns before evening seeing Dr. Absher. Then I had to explain to him everything we've been through for treatment. All these docs do is write a prescription and leave you.
This office is terrible. The two doctors dr. Absher and dr. Wilt are both rude and not helpful at all. Ive been going there for 4 years and they have not helped my epilepsy at all. All they do is try to shove more pills fown my throat everytime i go in. They take no time to hear what you have to say about how you are feeling and they take no time to explain anything to you. They are just looking for a paycheck. DO NOT GO TO SEE THIS DOCTOR.
