Ratings for Dr. David L. Dunlap
Made an appt for Dr Dunlap as required by my Ins co yet still had to wait over 2 hours to see him. Had to walk in with assistance, listed off alarming symptoms including unequal dilation of iris indicating stroke and he interrupted me. He was annoyed, said they had scheduled 6 walk ins only an hour before quitting time, he was the only one there, and I'd have to reschedule as my symptoms were "too complex" to deal with while he had so many other patients waiting. I said my specialists in another state wanted to see testing and asked him at least to order that for me. After calling the office several times in the next few weeks, no one knowing anything about any testing, I got a call telling me my tests (for which I'd never received an appt call) had been rescheduled. Another month went by. When I did get in, they had ordered the wrong test. My ins. company refused to cover the tests because Dr. Dunlap listed my serious symptoms only as a "little soreness" and omitted the other alarming symptoms. Not only was his lack of concern astonishing, it was dangerous. I finally gave up on finding medical health care in Lawrence after his notes caused a domino affect of non caring attitudes and contacted Mayo clinic. Drs there were stunned at his lack of concern for symptoms I had presented with. I normally don't give poor ratings to anyone, however this Dr. truly put me in a life threatening, dangerous situation and showed a lack of concern for my life that causes me to shake my head to this day. No one in the office knew what anyone else had done and a general sense of chaos and confusion reigns there. I would highly warn anyone about going to this clinic.
Dr. Dunlap is a wonderful doctor! Like the above posters i will agree, he is very attentive, polite, and most importantly, he actually cares about his patients and takes the time to personally talk to you. He is extremely respectful and listens to everything you have to say before making a diagnosis. His entire staff respects him and you can tell he has clearly earned it. His level of compassion and commitment to cause is what the medical field is sorely lacking these days. Best doctor in town, hands down. This doctor cares about his patients....period! The only issue I had (which was hardly even an issue) was with a certain receptionist at the front desk. Before she realized I had insurance, she was slightly rude and nasty....but again, remember this is a walk in clinic, so they most likely have to deal with a lot of..."interesting" patients. Dr. Dunlap and First Med in general came highly recommended and now I see why! Keep up the good work! -Sam Harris
Dr. Dunlap is great! He doesn't really come across as a doctor when you see him. He's very personable, explains everything you need to know, doesn't talk down to people and if he is puzzled by something he admits it. I wish we hadn't moved because he was a great doctor.
