Ratings for Dr. Steven M. Witzel
I have no confidence in this doctor. He asked me my symptoms and while I was talking, he was inputting the information into a software program (I assumed) as he then proceeded to say "nope it's not this" and "nope it's not that". I was dumbfounded - I could have easily sat home and asked "Dr. Google". His staff is rude and follow-up is incredibly POOR!!! Test results may not be important to him or his staff, but they certainly are to us, the patients.
I went to Dr. Witzel with severe pain I thought was gallstones, he told me it was GERD and ordered no other tests but then it did turn out to be gallstones when I went to a specialist. The next time I went to him with very severe throat pain with white spots on my tonsils and he told me it was a virus - the pain was so severe the next day I begged him to prescribe antibiotic and when he did the pain was less in 6 hrs and gone in 24...I'm convinced he missed this diagnosis as well. Finally, at my pre-operative checkup (having my gallbladder out!), he told me this regarding anesthesia: "They call it 'putting you to sleep' but in actuality they are practically killing you, putting you in a coma, and hopefully they can bring you back". Why would a doctor say this to a patient who is having surgery? Maybe he was joking but I thought this comment was extremely inappropriate, joking or not. I would not recommend this doctor.
I feel that Dr. Witzel is one of the greatest doctors that I have ever met. I feel like he really cares about me as a person and just not as a patient. I have been sick for a very long time, and everyone had given up on me until I met him. He was my savior. I would not be alive without him as my DR.
