Ratings for Dr. Michael DiTeresa
I began seeing dr. Teresa 15 years ago. At that time he was a thoughtful, professional, caring physician. Unfortunately, his mother is his office manager and they have become extremely codependent. I have never met a more negative woman, and it rubbed off on him. He became a 5 minute "Hi, how you doing, here's a prescripton, see ya." pill pusher. Most likely that's a result of medicare's low reimbursements and his mother's horrible attitude. You'll have to make an appointment to get a prescription refilled or the results of your labs. Patient records were oftin scattered all over the office in haphazard fashion,, and in all honesty, our veterinarian runs a more professional office and shows more comcern for our dog's wellbeing than Dr. DeTeresa does for mine. That's a severe judgment on my part, but it's an honest one. There may be extenuating circumstances that I am unaware of, however, that doesn't change what should be the most important aspect, which is patient care. Don't make your choice of doctors based on this or any other review. See for yourself and make your own informed decision.
This doc used to be excellent, taking his time and thinking outside the box most Western medicine folks stay in. My physical was him taking my blood pressure with legs dangling and arm hanging down over my sleeve, then prescribing me a dose of BP meds that I had been on 2 years before as I lost 65 pounds...really? He ordered labs without discussing what was being ordered. His office staff coded the labs wrong so instead of getting free labs as part of my physical, I got billed. The staff won't fix it even after my bill was sent to collections by the lab. There are always excuses, the lab coder is not there, the lab coder no longer works here, etc. They will never commit to taking care of it. They don't care and it is no wonder they have signs all over the office and exam rooms warning you to be nice or keep your thoughts to yourself. Too bad this doc and his staff went the way of 10-minute appointments and poor patient service.
My wife and I have had Doctor Diteresa now for many years, he is a dedicated diagnostician is caring, honest, very quick in working with his patients, Rated as one of the Top 100 Doctor's in America, listens to his patients, respects his patients for their concerns/thoughts and their time. His staff and Mother work with him and pay close attention to the patients details to get the many whom have this fine Doctor as their primary care Phx. Exceptional!
BEWARE: This hack just about killed me! The short version is that I have PANHYPOPITUITARISM. For a year, he put me on a low dose of hydrocortisone as a replacement for cortisone acetate. When I told him I was feeling tired a lot, he said I might have low iron and tried to send me for a colonoscopy! I went to another doctor at my wife's suggestion and he sent me to an endochronologist who immediately quadrupled my dose of hydrocortisone and told me that my salt level was so low, they normally hospitalize patients at that point!!!!! Luckily, I am doing just fine now. But a colonoscopy???? Maybe he had a friend that needed some business!!!!!
