Ratings for Dr. Simon Yan
Dr. Simon Yan died in 2009. His service was mediocre at best.
Worst Doctor ever. I have been going to him since I was a young kid (mid 1980’s) and I think he was the most incompetent and uncompassionate doctor ever. Near the end I preferred to go to a walk-in-clinic then to see him. One time I had warts on my knees so he told me to buy some diaper-rash cream thinking it was a rash (it did not help). Another time I had a lump on my arm and I told him it really hurts to touch, so what does he do, he jabs my lump with his finger really hard (I’m sure the whole building heard me scream). When I would visit him to get any kind of shot or needle, he would jab my arm without any care. He had terrible time management. He cared more about getting patience in and out as quickly as possible so he can see more patience in one day. Every time I had an appointment, I would show up a few minutes early but I would still have to wait about an hour to finally see him. The waiting room was constantly full, sometime with people waiting outside in the hallway.
This man was the worst doctor! He did not cure me and my family's health problem. After he retired as our family doctor, my present new doctor diagnoses my illness. It take me a while get back to be healthy because I was feeling all kind of sickness. If I have not have my new doctor, I think I could be very ill in bed now and my life would be in danger. I am very luck to have my presnet doctor very care for his patients. Someone have to stop Mr.Simon Yan working as a doctor now. Believe me, he is not really have a heart to cure sick people.
The worst doctor experience I've ever had! Who said that this doctor retired? I went to Walk-in Clinic here in Waterloo in Jan 2008 and Dr.S.Yan is still working there. I waited for 3 hours to see him. I had a terrible migraine and asked for migraine prescription. He prescribed 8 pills. I asked him for 12, so i wouldn't have to come in again in 2-3 months and wait for 3 hours. He wouldn't do this for me. I also had a second health problem which i wanted the doctor to address and maybe refer me to a specialist. He wouldn't even examin the problem. He said I was fine. I demanded that he at least looks at my swollen foot, he just ignored me. Then said that they have a policy at this clinic "only one problem at a time". He said that i got my migraine prescription and he cannot help me with anything else at this time. It's impossible to get a family doc. here, i can only use walk-in clinics where doctors not interested in helping. Canada=worst healthcare system in western world!
Very long wait times. ie. App't. at 9 for BP check, arrived 5 mins. early, waited until 10:50 losing pay from work every minute. No wonder my BP was elevated. Receptionist very disorganised and snapped at other patients who spoke up. This has been an ongoing problem (10 years) but with a chronic shortage of family doctors in this area, what choice do I have? 8-(
Simon Yan refused to treat my father's depression... he then attempted suicide and ended up in the hospital for a LONG time. He then misdiagnosed my father's thymic cancer as a benign lump and refused to send him to a specialist until it was truly too late (he passed away). We waited over an hour each visit to see him, and he spent no longer than seven minutes speaking to us each time. He was FAR too busy to keep track of his patients. I would not reccommend this doctor.
