NAME: VILLABONA, Gregory N., M.D. CERTIFICATE #: C1-0004007 ADDRESS: Dover, DE ACTION TAKEN: License Restricted and Limited to Providing Treatment to Male Patients only over the age of 18 years/Current Probation continues until June 2015/Other Terms and DATE OF ACTION: 3-Jun-08 REASON FOR ACTION: Unprofessional conduct Highlighted case Dr. Gregory Villabona Delaware licensed Villabona, a psychiatrist, even though in 2002 he had pleaded guilty in Maryland to two criminal charges involving sex offenses on a female minor in cases that dated back to 1978 and 1983. He had been indicted on 30 counts, including rape. His sentence in Maryland was five years’ probation before judgment. The Delaware medical board in 2003 placed restrictions on his license, but a court stayed that order, court documents show. The court released him early from probation in 2005. The board, which also shortened his probation, said Villabona could only practice on patients 18 and older unless he had an adult chaperone and told patients of the Maryland guilty plea. In 2007, the board extended his probation because it found he had violated the chaperone provision. Then in 2008, the board said it had a complaint from 2006 that he’d had "consensual" sex with a patient, a 22-year-old who was described as a victim of child sex abuse that Villabona was treating for depression. The board then restricted the doctor to seeing only adult male patients.. Villabona has not yet responded to a request for comment. https://psychrapereporter.wordpress.com/2009/12/04/medical-board-refuses-to-license-gregory-villabona-psychiatrist-with-history-of-sexual-offenses-and-allegations/
Great doctor, been through two doctors for my treatment-resistant OCD. All the other doctors wouldn't help and kept prescribing me SSRIs (which were not working) he was the only doctor who cared enough to investigate the cause of my issue, run tests, and allow me to try a successfull off-label drug. I would put my reputation on the line for him any day of the week.
DR.VILLABONA IS BY FAR THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE PSYCHIATRIST IN DELAWARE.HE CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS.PEOPLE LOVE TO BASH & BANG ON THE NEGATIVE.ALL THE GOOD ACCOMPLISHED & A NEGATIVE APPEARS THEN PEOPLE TALK.IHAVE SEEN SOME DOCTORS THAT WERE CRAZIER THEN THEIR PATIENTS.DR.V HOLD ON CAUSE THE TRUTH IS DELAWARE CAN NOT LOSE ANOTHER PROFESSIONAL.THE BOARD IS MADE UP OF SQUEEKY CLEAN BROWN NOSE-WANNA BE TOP DOGS!
After seeing many Psychiatrists, Dr. Villabona helped my husband and myself, as a couple and individually until the sanction was placed on him to not treat women. We've known him first as a Doctor and a friend for about 18 years. We've gone through many crises, and he's NEVER turned us away. He's given us plenty of time, has understood and helped us cope by being a good objective listener, and with his wise feed back. I always left his office feeling calmer and lighter. I don't get it what the person said about him giving out med indiscriminately. To me he's conservative, and at times has refused to prescribe something I wanted and explained why. At times I was a non-compliant patient, and he was angry with me and scolded me for my actions in front of my husband. He has said to me with tears in his eyes, that he wishes that he had the ability to just touch and heal people, and he is emphatic that as a Physician, to "Do no harm". I find it hard to believe the bad reports.
This is a follow up post to my earlier one. My son is now psychotic from the overdose of Adderol this so called Dr. has prescribed. Villabona has admitted that this is caused by the drugs yet continues to perscribe 4 pills at 30 mg. each to a patient that is not ADHD!Why is he still practicing after being charged and put on probation for a felony sexual offense in MD? He was refused a medical liscense in that state. He has been on probation in DE by a plea bargain that would have netted him 11 years in prison. Something has to be done before by son injures himself or others while on this drug!
Irresponsible in giving drugs to whomever, and whatever, a patient wants - His attitude is "If a patient is stupid enought to want drugs, I'll give them to him". He has given my family drugs in large quantities to the detriment of their physical and mental health. He should be investigated.
