Ratings for Dr. Robert L. Allred
I am 23 years old and have received surgery and scoping on both knees by this "dr and surgeon". I am in worse shape now, then I was 4 years ago before my first surgery. He is unbelievably rude as well as his office staff Mrs. Tiffany to be specific, has a major attitude problem. She always has. Dr Allred does not shave down the back of the knee cap like he is supposed to, so my knee caps catch my joint in which causes my knees to lock. I can no longer run, skip, ect. I have a 10 month old and I'm deathly afraid that something serious will happen and I won't be able to get to him in time. These surgeries where supposed to keep my knees from dislocating since they both have dislocated more than 6 times each in 4 years. I'm obviously not the only one with these problems from this specific type of surgery. Iv met numerous patients of his with the same complaints.
The first time the hip replacement was done, it never was in socket because of faulty size. After a day, it was determined that I suffered dropped foot. I was told that the use of my foot would return within a year but it never did. Even though I suffered immense pain, I was sent home with my leg out of socket. When this was discovered 10 days later, A second surgery was preformed. The cup was set at a bad angle and after a month, the leg continually tried to come out of socket throwing me to the ground with the pain. Dr. Allred tried to tell us it was because of the muscle and game me shots of cortisone. When this didn't work, I went to another surgeon who took xrays of the hip coming out of socket. After three surgeries, I have very limited mobility and my life style has changed greatly. DO NOT see this surgeon!!
We ended up waiting about 1 &1/2 hours past the scheduled time, but we were told up front that it would be that long because the Dr had been called in to assist in a surgery that morning, backing up the patients from the morning appointments. I found the staff to be courteous and helpful, if not somewhat overworked by the additional patient load in the afternoon. When we did finally get to see the Dr, he was very informative, and very clearly explained the nature of the injury and treatment. It became clear to me why the people who did wait in his office for hours stayed there instead of going to see someone else. As with most Doctors, he has very little if anything to do with the scheduling of appointments, and should not be held responsible for the wait that many patients faced. However, given the number of patients that apparently do have to wait frequently, he should probably consider a lighter patient schedule to help alleviate the waiting times in his office.
Staff and scheduling was terrible, never waited less than 90 minutes to see the doctor. He won't return calls. Staff shows up at 9am but doesn't answer phone till 10:30 and after lunch shows up at 1pm and doesn't answer phone till 2'30pm. There answer to my scheduling complaints was see another surgeon. When doctor is late arriving to office from surgery the patient is the last to know, again I've waited 90 minutes before anyone explains what's going on. My addvice, see another surgeon, his staff sucks. They might as well not schedule patients as they operate, first come first serve.
