Ratings for Dr. Maria Fleseriu
Dr Fleseru is a wonderful and caring doctor and a true clinician. I travel from out of state several times a year to see her and I always go home feeling that i really understand what is going on. She is busy and hard to get in sometimes, but all worth it.
Dr. Fleseriu and her staff have been nothing but helpful and understanding and do their best to keep you advised about what is going on in your case. They know what they are doing and will answer any and all questions you have. As a patient we are responsible to ask questions about our concerns. We as patients need to learn to become more learned about our medical problems and bring in advocates than can help in this process. The kind of work Dr. Flesseriu does is very complicated and can be hard to understand and she always makes sure you know what is going on. She imparts much information in the time she is with you and if you don't understand you need to let her know and she will make sure you do, either by herself or her staff as needed. We are lucky to have her in our lives no matter the outcome as she always does her best. She has much compassion for her patients. I am looking forward to continuing any treatment regiment that she thinks will be conducive to my getting better. She is top in her field and those who work with her are held up to those same expectations. There are no high and mighty airs put on by anyone I have come across. They are just good people doing a very difficult job with a good attitude. This is in very short supply in most institutions. They are a well oiled machine. Real TEAM work here at OHSU. You don't see that much anywhere. All institutions should be ran like OHSU at least from the patients perspective. I can't say from the business end because I have no knowledge of this. Anyone lucky enough to get to see her should appreciate the care they are getting. 5 stars are not enough! Thank you !
Dr Maria Flesiru is an amazing person. I love having her as my doctor and feel very confident that my health is very much improved due to her knowledge and compassion. She nevers make me feel rushed through my appointments and takes the time to address all my concerns.
She is one of my favorite people as well favorite physicians of all time. We have a tremendous rapport. She not only gives me a thorough understanding of my condition but explains in depth the mechanism of different pharmaceuticals as well as the condition being addressed by treatment. Great attitude! I always feel energized after our appointments
I absolutely LOVE Dr. Fleseriu - her personable manner, excellent skill and latest knowledge, attitude -- just everything. I have visited a number of Endocrinologists across the country and she is the best! I was willing to fly in from out of state to continue in her care.
My daughter saw Dr. Fleseriu for possible adrenal/pituitary issues. While the overall staff was punctual, wait reasonable, and the fellowship intern friendly, I found Dr. Fleseriu defensive & difficult to talk to. She did state right off a pituitary situation was very likely, but when I pressed her for a more overall picture, she was reluctant & unclear to talk about the possibilities. She instead spent time assuring me of her qualifications and that she would know and became increasingly defensive. The tone was set from the beginning by the fact we were referred by a Naturepath. It was made clear she would see treatment quite differently. She spent more time scaring my daughter about her current protocol from a respected and qualified Naturepath (who REFERRED her to an endocrinologist!) which has kept my daughter at least functional. We are to reduce & remove this protocol then test with her but without ANY support as to how we can keep my daughter functioning. It'll "just be rough."
She and staff were very brusque and hurried. I was discharged from her care without any way to get medicine refills and ended up in the emergency room of her hospital. She had said I no longer needed treatment even though my bloodwork said otherwise. I was without any way to get cortisol. I called her office repeatedly to get a refill of hydrocortisone but they said I was no longer her patient. Do not see her. Go to Seattle or Tacoma.
Dr. Fleseriu is incapable of communicating with normal human beings. She took five minutes to talk with me at each appointment I've had at her office, and during that time rattled off a HUGE amount of information, rife with acronyms I wasn't familiar with, and accordingly I hardly understood a thing. I swear I'm not crazy here. Even my primary care physician is having trouble deciphering her notes about my care. I also do not appreciate that I have been told to increase/change medications via my online chart rather than by phone, and that she initially suggested, IN A CURSORY NOTE ATTACHED TO AN ONLINE NOTICE, that I start back on a medication that gave me severe side effects. That is not something to discuss in an offhand manner, nor in that format. They have also scheduled me for appointments without asking me first. Seriously, I've been TOLD rather than asked when my appointment will be. I am PISSED. I am a human being and I need to be treated as such.
I can't tell you how frustrating its been working with Dr. Fleseriu and her nurse practitioner Chris. I feel like I never get my questions answered and when I ask the Dr a question, she tells me "Im worrying too much". When I was diagnosed with my condition, they told me nothing about it and had to learn about it on the internet. I hate that they never remember who I am or my history and like im just another non important patient. If there was another specialist in the area, I would switch docs. I work in the medical field and know that they are not providing good care. I don't care for Dr. Fleseriu, but her nurse practitioner, Chris Yedinak, is even worse! Chris is rude and has a horrible bed side manner. When my MRI showed a brain tumor, she told me over the internet and just posted the radiology report instead of calling and explaining things to me. Don't go to them unless you have to!
Terrible medical care. I work in the medical field and at times I had to remind her of necessary labs or suggest change of meds. When labs would come back or new meds started to work better, her words were always; remember-"I told you we needed to order lab work" or "see, I knew this new medication would work" .... ???? I think she is loosing it. Lastly, if I ever ask too many questions, she would immediately get defensive.
