Ratings for Dr. Brad L. Penenberg
Dr. B. Penenberg's office staff is the worst experience that I have ever encountered in my life. I had surgery that has left me in far worse shape than before he tried to fix my knee. The after care was none, I waited 2-1/2 hrs three times for him to grace me with 5 minutes of his time. He might be know as one of the orthopedic Gods at Cedars but I will never go back to him. My condition is way worse than it was before he operated on me. The follow up from post surgery was nil.
I have had nothing but a most amazing experience with Dr. Penenberg. First of all, I got an appointment easily. I did not wait long to see him. I never have waited long. He, in my opinion, is a genius, who is also a bit modest. I had a positive surgery experience. And that was totally unexpected as I had been so frightened before it all. But I had NO PAIN---when I came out of surgery some nurses in the hospital told me the real pain would come through the next day. NEVER. I just never had more than a 1 in pain. Never. Now this is completely unexpected and amazing. I was walking the first night--with a walker, and I just did really well. I surprised myself, but I give the credit to Dr. Penenberg's new technique. It is not that invasive---but wait until you see the x-ray of your new hip on the last visit. What???? All that went inside of me, and I can hardly locate a scar at all!!!! This is nothing short of extraordinary. I would recommend Dr. Penenberg to everyone . What I find upsetting (and this is not about him) is that these doctors have a specialization in hips and knees. I had swollen ankles, and they "just don't deal with ankles". What????? It's as if they don't want to hear about the thigh or the feet. It's so absurd--that leg is completely affected by your having had surgery. The Internists don't feel it's their place to deal with things that are affected by your surgery. So you get buffeted around by the different specialists, but there is no cohesive vision of a body whose parts are interconnected. The Physical Therapists who come to your house from Medicare don't want to pronounce on anything--like is this swelling serious? See your surgeon. Well they dont' deal with the thigh (or whatever other part), so see your Internist (well they don't deal with this either). NO one seems to take the WHOLE BODY into consideration. I do think that a wholistic approach would be the best. I have been sent from pillar to post. I am fine. I had excellent results. But I wish there would have been a person qualified to look over the whole body. As for Dr. Penenberg, within the parameters of his profession---to me--he is top of the line and a modest man who carries an enormous light within. For a laugh: I felt like I was one of those tiny tiny cars in the circus--out of which come about a hundred clowns. You wonder how they ever fit in such a tiny car. Well, how di that HUMUMGOUS implant of a hip replacement ever get inside of a one or two inch entry? Great Performance, Dr. Penenberg. I'm impressed!!!!! All 5's.
Dr Penenberg is friendly, professional, extremely knowledgable and the ONLY doctor to have a hip replacement by. He's so good that his waiting room is always full. But when it was my turn to talk to him...he focused on me. Looked me in the eyes and was made me feel very comfortable. He is special, not many doctors have his ability. He is very positive and he smiles at you and you know he's going to take good care of you. I had no pain at all. I was walking 5 hours after my total hip replacement with a walker. The next day with a cane and I went home. He is simply the best.
I told Dr P I didn't care if I ever saw him again, as long as he did my surgery. He smiled. He has on staff Dr Bolling who will do post-ops, injections, etc. Early on I opted for this, and have been very happy..Unhappy patients, because DrPenninberg DOES run late, were offered to see Dr Bolling and always refused,LOUDLY....so the office does try to help. I would rather wait and be patient and have the BEST DR's...I also see Dr. Regan for spine (another gem). You have no idea how many surgeons are bad or average. Be happy and do all you can to make your surgery work, being ungrateful does no good.. I had a few complications and I know I have an excellent Dr, I follow orders and I eat healthy, no smoking, etc...so it is no ones fault..life happens and I am looking forward to having my other knee done soon. TRY Dr Bolling for post-op etc, his schedule is not as crowded, that will it easier on all....by the way I drive from San Diego for each visit.it's worth it
Dr Penenberg acts omnipotent, behaves like he is doing you a favor by operating on you. Staff appears uneducated and lacks compassion. Dr. Penenberg's bedside manner is the very worst I have every encountered. Exchange is terrible beyond belief. My advice; find another doctor!
DO NOT GO TO DR. PENENBERG. UNQUALIFIED. MADE ME SUFFER. CAUSED MY PROBLEM TO WORSEN. UNORGANIZED STAFF. FAILURE TO RETURN CALLS. DELIBERATELY DECEIVED ME. UNCARING. MIXED-UP PATIENT RECORDS. FAILURE TO PROVIDE PROPER FOLLOW-UP CARE. ALMOST OPERATED ON THE WRONG KNEE. HAD A RE-DO SURGERY WITH A MUCH MORE QUALIFIED DOCTOR. OPENLY BRAGS ABOUNT TREATING CELEBRITY LYLE RITCHIE. MIXED-UP MY LAB RESULTS WITH ANOTHER PATIENT. ASKING FOR INVESTIGATION BY MEDICAL BOARD DUE TO PENENBERG'S LACK OF BASIC CARE AND PATIENT UNDERSTANDING. STAFF IS RUDE, DISORGANIZED, UNQUALIFIED, UNCOOPERATIVE, SLOW TO RESPOND, MIXES UP MEDICAL RECORDS, EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL, FAILS TO RETURN CALLS IN A TIMELY MANNER. STAY AWAY FROM DR. PENENBERG AT ALL COSTS. VERY SCARY MEDICAL OFFICE.
put aside the fact that's he's so busy (read so good) so he keeps everyone waiting and I only saw hime twice, once when he made me wait an hour and a half for at 8am appointment and then the day of surgery when he came in for 30 seconds and put an x on my right hip, the result is fabulous. Out of the hospital in 24 hours,no crutches, canes or walker. danced at a wedding 2 weeks after the surgery (i was in good shape going into the surgery and that helped). Now its 7 weeks later and after rehab and doing my home excercises i can't tell I have a new hip. Also relatively little pain. minimomaly invasive surgery is the way to go and he has the technique. So he's popular and thus he's tough to see. Small price to pay
