Ratings for Dr. Jose F. Font-Cordoba
Dr Font served in the capacity of an "on call" cardiologist. The primary was out of town. Major heart surgery had been performed on my mother by a surgeon and she was in critical condition. The surgeon performing the procedure indicated her condition was very critical but we may have received our miracle...she was improving and had a strong will to live. Dr Font was the attending physician following the surgeon's procedure. He was extremely insensitive and while our mother lay in intensive care, he rudely informed our family, he had done all he could and we should just accept the fact she is going to die...and he was surprised she wasn't already dead. This was only hours after her surgery. The hospital was able to keep her alive two additional days. The days in between we received absolutely no support or assurance Dr Font cared about her condition or that he took any steps to save her life. He was convinced she was dying and any efforts would be futile.
The care and bedside manner of this doctor is extremely poor. He was the on-call cardiologist for the care of a loved one which had just been through an extensive heart surgical procedure. Dr Font was very rude and blatantly told family members the patient should have died and could not understand why family members wanted to continue care and rescucitation. Being a physician, I was under the impression his job was to do everything to save lives, not discourage it. I find this very disconcerting.
