Ratings for Dr. Michael D. Mitchell
This doctor is over prescribing medication. My husband who has suffered from additction to prescription medication is being given pills just by asking for them. Dr. Mitchell is prescribing him diet pills when he is 6'2 and 210 pounds, Viagra when he hasn't been diagnosed for Erectile Disfunction and dangerous amounts of Xanex where my husband has been in mulitiple auto accients over the past few years, one where he actually fell asleep at the wheel and he often has blackouts where he has no recollection of conversations. This doctor is prescribing 180 pills of this stuff per month to my husband. In addition he has prescribed him muscle relaxers when there is no reason. I'm terrified I will wake up next to a corpse. I'm trying to get this man reviewed by the Virginia Department of Medical Professionals.
I am a new patient and visited Dr Mitchell for a physical. I was told that I had to have a new patient office visit before I could have the physical. I was not told that an office visit is not covered by insurance. The office visit consisted of a 30 minute conversation with the doctor about medical history, diet, exercise, and other preventative health topics. Dr Mitchell was professional and courteous, but it was unclear why this visit was necessary before having a physical. After the visit I received a notice from my insurance saying that the claim was not covered and the physician sent me a bill for $150. $150 for a 30 minute conversation that I had to have instead of the physical I actually wanted? I spoke with the practice regarding the outlandish bill and received very curt, unprofessional, condescending remarks from the Office Manager. This office takes advantage of its patients. Not exactly the type of relationship I'd want to have with my doctor.
Both my husband and I see Dr. Mitchell and are very pleased with his service. He listens, which is rare among the medical crowd. I also appreciate his acceptance of technology; if you need meds, he writes the prescription on his iPhone and it is waiting for you at the pharmacy. Very efficient.
I recently became a patient of this practice due to the fact that I was no longer comfortable with my prior PCP overseeing my health concerns. Dr. Mitchell is very knowledgable, friendly and just have a wonderful bedside manner altogether. I will recommend Dr. Mitchell to anyone. The staff of the practice is wonderful.
I've been with Dr Mitchell for years. Knowledgeable and helpful, although some of his staff is mixed. Some nice and some abrasive and rude. My guess is he and the other Dr.'s in the office try to find the cheapest labor they can and it shows sometimes.
Used to see Dr. Mitchell but no longer do as a result of his staff. One in particular is rude and unfriendly. Dr. Mitchell on the other hand is very nice, caring and has great bed-side manners. Helped me alot when I was going through some difficult times at work. A truly caring individual.
We love Dr. Mitchell- he has been so helpful and understanding with us- and he's been very supportive of our international adoption by providing the necessary forms and documentation. We actually changed insurance because he stopped taking our old insurance just so we could stay with him. Very pleasant and caring.
