What is Your Daily Caffeine Quota?

Hold the espresso! For some, a bit of caffeine in the morning is a must to begin the day, but just how many lattes or shots of espresso are okay for your health?

Well, depending on how much of a caffeine lover you are this could be good or bad news for you.  Apparently, it is okay to have up to five shots of espresso a day, according to research by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA.)

In their research they concluded that drinking up to 400 milligrams of caffeine a day doesn’t contribute to health risks.  Since a shot of espresso contains around 80 milligrams of caffeine, well, you do the math.

While it’s important to keep an eye on just how much caffeine you consume, there have been previous study’s that outline the health benefits of having caffeine in your diet such as reducing risk of heart disease and even reducing the risk of skin cancer.
