You know the old saying, the eyes are the window to the soul? Looks like it might be true after all. At least that’s what A.I says.
A study done at the University of South Australia has discovered that you can rig artificial intelligence to predict your personality. And it’s all done by tracking your eye movements.
Researchers used state-of-the-art machine-learning algorithms to demonstrate the interesting connection. They zoned in on what are known as the Big Five personality traits to identify their results: neuroticism, extroversion, agreeableness, and conscientiousness.
By tracking the eye movements of 42 participants, they came up with their results, as participants went about their daily lives on a university campus. Kind of futuristic.

The participants then answered questions using well-established questionnaires that assess personality traits. Risk-taker or wall flower? All secrets were revealed.
In the end, it was found that people with certain personalities tend to move their eyes in similar ways. Sort of gives a new meaning to ‘blind date’, doesn’t it?
Researchers aren’t hoping to use their newfound knowledge to better the dating world, however.
They say they hope to apply it to the emerging fields of social signal processing and social robotics. It’s all about human-machine interactions, and making today’s robots socially aware, and able to adapt to non-verbal cues. Trippy.
So, soon your smart phone may be getting even smarter- and Siri might want to see your face when you’re talking. Maybe.
Hopefully that day is still a while off- for the moment, it’s nice to have some privacy.
