Sherrie Duggan’s rare disease is so debilitating, it caused the 35-year-old from Birmingham to contemplate suicide.
She suffers from Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome (CVS), which made her throw up 15 times an hour and suffer searing stomach pain. Her condition started over a year ago, and she still finds it unbearable.
“Every day I feel like I am in a prison. I have chronic pain, nausea and fatigue,” she described.
“It strips you of everything, and sometimes I can feel very angry. I used to be very lively and sociable, and I loved my job.”
It’s taken 18 months for a proper diagnosis. She spoke to BBC 5 live to raise awareness about the syndrome so that people know “it’s a real thing”.
