According to reports, the boy first complained about being tired, at 14 years old. He then went to his doctor, who tested him and found him to be anemic. He was then given vitamin B12 injections and some advice on healthy eating. And sent on his way.

By 17, he was blind. This individual was diagnosed with optic neuropathy caused by multiple micronutrient deficiencies including low vitamin B12, vitamin D, copper and selenium, and extra high zinc levels.
