Kids Love ‘Em? GoGo squeeZ Applesauce Pouches Recalled Due to Mold

Kids love to eat the stuff and the small containers are so easy to carry around that parents are apt to adore them too, but a recent recall on apple sauce pouches made by GoGo squeeZ due to mold concerns will be sure to stop many caregivers in their tracks the next time they find themselves grocery shopping.

Food product residue was found in product pumps during inspection, GoGo squeeZ says, during a routine check being done by the Michigan State Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD).

Nobody has reported having fallen sick due to the moldy apple sauce, but the product has been recalled as a protectionary measure.

The recall was announced by the company last week on Facebook and was accompanied by a statement from the founder Michel Larroche.

“I deeply regret that I must let you know we are voluntarily recalling specific applesauce pouches that may not meet our quality standards,” wrote Larroche. “While it is possible the food product residue may have been incorporated into finished product, we test our applesauce extensively, and at this time, we have not seen evidence of this in our pouches.”

GoGo squeeZ is popular enough to be found at KFC as a healthy side order and has its roots in a family jam business started in Belgium, back in the 1800s.

The company currently sells applesauce in portable pouches, as well as fruit and veggie mixes and organic applesauce.

Consumers who have purchased GoGo squeeZ applesauce pouches with best before dates between Dec. 4, 2015 and March 4, 2017 can call 844-275-5841 or go online to request a replacement voucher.

Oh jeez, GoGo squeeZ.
