You might feel like a lump of mud in a ditch when you’re menstruating, but your time of the month can actually be the perfect moment to get it on.
As Diana Spechler writing for womenshealthmag.com states, “We get our periods. Men ejaculate. It’s a mess, but so what? The best sex usually is.”
Many women might feel curious about having sex on their period, but feel that it’s a no-go.
The mere idea sounds pretty messy and when you’re menstruating, you might be feeling the least attractive you have all month.
But truth is, men don’t actually think having bloody, messy sex is such a bad thing. In fact, studies have shown that it’s usually women who say sex during that time of the month is off limits.
According to MensHealth.com, more 75 per cent of men surveyed about having sex during a woman’s period said, “yes, I’d love it”. About half of this crowd felt they would only do the deed with a serious girlfriend or their wife, but nonetheless, they seem good to go, and not really put off by any animalistic substances oozing out of our body.
Want to give it a go? Here are 5 ways to celebrate your body and have sex during your period:
1) Talk About It
If you and your partner have never had sex during your period and you’re curious about giving it a try, tell them. Ask them how they feel about it. Getting the communication going is the first route towards stepping into action.
If your find that your partner is part of that minority that doesn’t like the idea at all, feel happy that you tried, and move onto something else. Remember, there’s always masturbation.
2) Gather Those Dark Towels
If you’re going to be tossing and turning with your hotty on your period, you might feel most relaxed if you put a dark towel down first. Black, brown, deep red or purple all work well, and it can help you to relax knowing that any mess you leave behind is going to be easy to clean up.
There’s nothing like feeling tense about tomorrow’s laundry to ruin the mood. Start off with a bit of preparation and you can really let loose.
3) Use a Condom
Using a condom is always a good idea, and especially when on your period. STIs can easily be transmitted through all the blood, and it’s also a good way to help your guy stay clean. You’ll also make sure you don’t get pregnant, something that’s uncommon while menstruating, but not impossible with breakthrough bleeding.
4) Be Open to Orgasm
You might feel less relaxed trying out sex on your period, but it can actually be a great pain reliever. Having an orgasm can be a pretty effective way of getting those cramps to calm down by letting loose all that pelvic tension.
5) Jump in the Shower as a Duo Afterwards
Many people enjoy a hot shower after having sex, but it can be even more pleasurable when you both join in. If you have sex on your period both partners are going to craving a rinse. Draw things out by jumping under the spray together.
