Buying Opioids Online? This is What You Need to Know

The FDA and DEA are warning illegally operating websites to shut down.

The opioid crisis continues. According to government statistics, almost 80% of people who use heroin first misuse prescription opioids in the U.S.A.

Across the country, more than 130 people actually die EACH DAY in America from overdosing on opioids. These are sad facts.

In an apparent effort to save and protect lives, the U.S Food and Drug Administration, in connection with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, is finally taking somewhat of a stand on the issue by targeting websites that sell opioids online. The two administrations have issued warning letters to four online networks that operate a total of 10 websites. These sites sell illegally marketed and unapproved/misbranded versions of opioid medications. The site operators have been told to cease activities and stop selling opioids online.

If you buy prescription opioids online, you are putting your health at risk, the FDA states. The product could be counterfeit, contaminated, expired or unsafe in some other manner. Taking opioids without a prescription or the supervision of a doctor puts you at risk for addiction and unsafe use. Furthermore, it’s possible that illegal online pharmacies could be involved in credit card fraud, computer viruses and identity theft.
