I work in health care, in Geriatric medicine, where we are always looking at non-pharmacologic alternatives for pain control in seniors who suffer from multiple painful conditions. In my experience over the years, both professional and personal (the ubiquitous chronic low back pain), I have found acupuncture very helpful and obviously with none of the side effects you often see with painkillers.
