Seen Dr. Jaffers in July and had surgery in August. I was in so much pain. He went over the MRI with me and explained everything that needed to be done to my back. He was informative, kind and compassionate. I have been pretty much without pain, and realized it's a slow process but with physical therapy I'm getting better and better!

I experienced sudden onset extreme crescendo pain of my neck & shoulders accompanied by intermittent numbness & tingling of my upper extremities with a pain rating @ a 10 based on a scale of one to ten. I went to Methodist hospital Emergency Room & was diagnosed with spinal cord compression of my cervical spine Level C3 down to C5. My diagnosis was listed as Emergent via xrays & MRI. Dr. Jaffer , a Neurosurgeon assembled a team & took me to surgery quickly after educating me on the surgical procedure & my treatment plan. He was professional, an excellent educator & surgeon, excellent bedside manner, easy to talk to, friendly, answered all my questions, explained my options which were limited with the risk of paralysis, quadriplegia if the spinal cord was not preserved. The procedure involved approx. 4 inch incision on the front of my neck & the implantation of a tiny cage to protect the spinal cord & a small plate with several screws . The presurgery symptoms were relieved, range of motion of my neck was restored & the hospital stay was two days after surgery. The physical therapy team evaluated my mobility & strength also. I highly recommend Dr. Jaffer & visited his office 3 days ago for post-op evaluation.

Dr Hyder is very detailed and caring. I had debilitating compression of the nerves in my neck resulting in decreased movement of my hands and arms. He did surgery that greatly improved my quality of life and use of my hands. Strongly recommend him!
