Plain and simple she has the patient’s best interest first and foremost. I do believe the majority of doctors ultimately do. Dr Stephenson is also supremely competent, skilled, reassuring and compassionate. My surgery under her care was successful.

Dr Stephenson has helped me in 2005, operating on a synovial cyst that caused hellish pain. An uneventful recovery saw a complete cure and many pain free years. I again needed her help late last year. My lumbar spine was in a mess and again I was in tortuous pain. I was given an initial appointment months away, and settled in to wait, even tho I was a private patient. When she reviewed my scans and MRI, I was offered a prompt appointment and TLIF surgery 5 days later. I am 7 weeks post op and take two Panadols in the morning such is my freedom from that awful pain.
I notice comments about punctuality. Imagine being a neurosurgeon, with people in extreme danger eg crushed spines, skulls, aneurysms, bleeds coming through at you as well as your operating lists. Imagine prioritising damage and pain, chronic and acute, nerve pain vs nerve paralysis or destruction. Trust this doctor, she is skilled and triages in an informed and compassionate way. I had to wait a while at times, but I was aware that she was probably more stressed by the cause than I was. When it came to my turn, she devoted over five hours of her total concentration, skill and technology to help only me. She reviewed me late at night after finishing her long days, and encouraged me to get on with healing, which I am. Thanks Dr for again changing the trajectory of my health and well being,

Every time I have an appt this doctor, she is an hour late. Because of the issues I have had with appts, when I did have one, I rang a few days before to confirm it, only to be told they had changed it - without telling me. Then I was to have a phone consult - will call me between 10 - 4. She calls at 5.30 in the afternoon (again confirming that she has poor time management practices). The call took all of 3 minutes - and since it was to give me a result of an MRI that had occured 6 months earlier, she could not find 3 minutes in her busy schedule to call me in the past 6 months with the result. No respect for other peoples lives and I certainly will not waste my precious time on this oh so busy important doctor who has no time for anyone but herself.

We found DrStephenson an extremely caring and professional doctor. Her knowledge, expertise and help during my husband’s spinal surgery was amazing. My husband is now pain free thanks to her surgery. We can not recommend her highly enough.

Didn’t have a good experience with this neurosurgeon. She lacked any knowledge and just gave me the run around. Thanks for doing absolutely nothing to fix my problem.

Absolutely the most knowledgeable and caring Doctor we have been to. My husband had spinal surgery with Dr Stephenson and under her care and experience he has been pain free ever since. She explained things clearly and thoroughly from start to finish. We cannot thank her enough.

I would not recommend this neurosurgeon at all. Not only did she waste my time over two years of going to the outpatient department for nothing, but she ended up doing nothing to fix the pain that I had in my head. All she did was told me to go to pain management team at the hospital. Worst neurosurgeon that I have ever dealt with. Should go back to school and learn how to communicate with patients better. Much better neurosurgeons in Sydney.

Can't thank Dr Stephenson enough, for diagnosing a problem other specialists had missed.
I am now walking easier and in less pain after my surgery, and continued followup recovery.
Would recommend her for back problems.

My daughter recently had emergency surgery by Dr Stephenson on the Gold Coast. At all times Dr Stephenson kept us fully informed, she was professional, kind and brilliant ..... I still have my daughter sitting next to me smiling.

Can not thank Dr Stephenson enough for her professionalism and care. She detailed the risks and all possible outcomes without the pressure of an operation. After going down all avenues of therapy I went in to my surgery as a last resort with the knowledge that I was in the best possible hands. Six months later and I look forward to waking up each day pain free. Thank you Dr Stephenson!
