Biography

Dr. Carlos Mata aka Dr. Scottsdale™ is a bilingual Harvard trained, board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. "Be your OWN kind of beautiful" is the motto of Dr. Carlos Mata also known as Dr. Scottsdale™. He is a bilingual Harvard-trained board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He believes in taking the personal image of "beautiful" in his patient's eyes and bringing it to life through surgical sculpting. He specializes in the fields of facial rejuvenation, breast revision surgery, body contouring, and much more. Giving each patient the ability to have their desired body and look. He has performed over 20,000 surgical procedures in Miami, Boston, Houston, and Scottsdale/Metropolitan area." Dr. Mata not only focuses on the aesthetics and beauty of the human shape but also those in need. He has been volunteering on medical mission trips at least twice a year since 2011 to perform cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries. During these trips, he helps children and adults that are burn victims as well as those with birth defects of the face, body, and hand. Passion for helping those in need led Dr. Mata to join the US Army where he served as a Major and Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Eglin AFB. He treated military members and dependents from Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida. Currently, Dr. Mata performs all scopes of Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery at his location in Scottsdale, Arizona. Highly-skilled plastic surgeon for the breasts, face, neck, skin, and abdomen. He also performs skin rejuvenation treatments. After graduating with cum laude honors from Texas A&M with a degree in biomedical science, Dr. Mata earned an M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he received Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He completed a residency at the University of Texas from 2005 - 2008, a residency at the Medical Branch at Galveston, TX from 2008 - 2011, a residency at Harvard Medical School in 2008, and a microsurgery externship at MD Anderson Center in 2010. Dr. Mata is highly respected in his field of plastic surgery and has been published in many medical publications and research journals. In 2014-2018, Dr. Mata was voted by the Consumers Research Council of America as one of "America's Top Surgeons." Dr. Mata was also named a 2016 and 2017 RealSelf 100 winner.
