I have been seeing Dr. Ens for at least 6-7 years now and I am totally impressed with his care and knowledge. This last appointment for the very first time, I had to wait about 30 minutes past my scheduled time. Understandably this happens but his service and thoroughness far outweighs any inconvenience. I completely understand the issues with my eyes which encourages me to follow his recommendations more diligently. An excellent doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Ens for 2 years; and consider him the best Optometrist in Alberta. Our vision care is so important, and Dr. Ens is the most professional, caring, and thorough Optometrist I have ever met. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate him 10.5

My first visit with Dr Ens was fine he is knowledgeable and explains in detail what is happening. I could not see out of my new glasses so I went to get my prescription rechecked. The first part of the session was fine, but as time went by he got more and more frustrated as he could not understand why I could not see, in the mists of the multiple tests we did he was heavy sighing, and laughing at my answers . After one specific test he slammed/ threw the remote onto the table with a loud bang. I was super uncomfortable and was fighting the urge to cry. I didn’t appreciate this, and although he did end up calming down and finding resolution to my issue I don’t think that behaviour was appropriate.

We just relocated to Edmonton and needed to find a new Optometrist. I did some research and checked online reviews for Capital Vision Care and Dr Ens and made an appointment for my husband and I for eye exams. The staff was very helpful and there was a problem with my husband's new Blue Cross benefits when they went to put them through for me. It was after hours so they could not call and check to see why they weren't working. They told me they thought it was probably just a problem with my birthdate being entered wrong when they set the benefits up and walked me through how to fix it. (When I checked the next day they were 100% correct and it was an easy fix) Dr Ens was very thorough and went through our previous history as we were new patients. Explained the results of our eye exams and the changes from our last eye glass prescriptions. He even diagnosed me with a congenital eye condition that I have asked every Optometrist I have seen about and have been brushed off about. I was told it was simply a lazy eye but it is not! He is very knowledgeable and is very personable!

Dr. Ens has been my eye doctor for a few years now! It is always a pleasant and thoughtful experience. I had issues with contacts for a while. He has helped me find some contacts that work great for me! The office staff also helped me get a great pair of glasses! Plus this doctor is a handsome fellow! 11/10! Would go back!

I'm new to Edmonton and was looking for a new optometrist. I needed someone quick so I made an appointment at Capital Vision and was slotted in to see Dr. Ens. I was pleasantly surprised to find him to be exceptionally thorough, professional and friendly. I was planning on just using Capital Vision temporarily until a I found a new optometrist, however I'm pretty sure I just found him! He's a great doctor and I highly recommend him.

Biography

Dr. Ens was born in Edmonton and grew up in Grande Prairie. At a young age, he developed a fascination with sight, one of our most diverse and complex senses. After shadowing his optometrist, Dr. Ens knew optometry was his ideal career. He returned to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta and in 2009, was awarded Bachelor of Science degree with distinction. In 2014, Dr. Ens obtained his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo and was on the Dean’s List. Dr. Ens enjoys getting to know his patients, address their specific concerns, and help them see the world more clearly. Dr. Ens has been able to combine his love of travel with optometry. He has provided eye exams on four different continents, and hopes to make it to all of them (well, maybe not Antarctica). Some notable experiences so far are Peru, the Philippines, Nicaragua, and Malawi.
