Saw doctor Gagnon due to a blood clot in my arm and he ended up diagnosing it as arterial and vascular TOS very quickly. Ended up having a rib resection surgery. He is to the point, but clear and caring. I never felt rushed and always felt like he answered all my questions. Surgery went really well and he was there in hospital even on a saturday checking up on his patients. I would recommend Dr Gagnon!

The woman receptionist, I think her name is Carol is extremely rude. I have had 3 interactions with her and in all of them, she was unprofessional, rude and has an abrupt tone when talking to me either on the phone, or in person. She lacks empathy and does not have good social skils.

The 1st time, she put me on hold, and I could hear her on the other side of the phone bad mouthing someone, (she didn't put me on hold properly) when she then spoke to me, she was already agitated, short tempered and had an aggressive tone. She wouldn't explain things properly and when I'd ask her again, she sounded angry that she had to repeat herself.

I paid $315 for some injections. My extended insurance needed a breakdown of the procedure I order to get reimbursed, she was not helpful, and just plain rude, saying, well, we don't do that! Funny because another doctor who does sclerotherapy does give a breakdown on the treatment.
Joel Gagnon, she is hurting your business. I will definitely not be recommending to anyone. Dr Donald Cooke on the other hand has a polite receptionist and is much more customer friendly!

BC Medical system is in terrible decline over the decasdes in quality care and he is another classic example of why. He only looked at the MRI report and never touched the area of issue and probed the area of concern.He was angry and restless and mentioned to see another specialist. He only wanted to do a external exercise test. He has a medical equipment he was sitting in front of and to never correctly to a full evaluation after months of being on a waiting list?? How do doctors get away with poor quality care today while people are in horrific suffering? These doctors in the medical system need more accountability. They get away with abuse and neglect of patient care. Something needs to be done!

Removing my damage vain went ok not completely clear,as for the spider veins extremely disappointedI had 2 treatments with injections instead of going away they are worst and to top he charged $300 without discussion ahead of time.

Dr. Gagnon assisted in a spinal implant surgery one year ago . Because it was a frontal approach disc replacement in the L-2 area, his skill was needed to gain access for the Neurosurgeon. He was responsible for access and to patch everything up. At 10 weeks I contacted Dr. Gagnon and had a in person meeting because of issues I was having post surgery. It was the start of what turned into multiple problems over the next 3 months. My vertical incision had a Dia-stasis recti ..or separation vertically of the abdominal muscles. This allowed for multiple Hernia's to penetrate the thin muscles. The issue I have is the lack of Post op care ...there could have been more information on rehabilitation...the use of wraps or support garments to prevent the stomach muscle separation issues that developed. I think the worst part was when after I kept pushing to find out what was wrong ., and it was 6 months after surgery a CT scan reveled the extent of the issues. And when asked what do we do next... I get from Dr. Gagnon is I don't do Hernia or Dia-stasis recti repair. So i asked him to refer me to a doctor who does ...the answer was go to your family doctor and get them to find you a general surgeon for you. As I found out my situation is not typical and there were only a few surgeons that would be able to take care of both post op issues I was dealing with. I ended up doing my own research and found a very highly recommended surgeon to perform the surgery and their attention to detail and post -op care was leaps and bounds better than anything I received from Dr. Gagnon. his office did not close to the specific post op care needed. The part that upsets me is that it is the opinion of several doctors and physiotherapists that this was preventable if only the right information and post -op care had been given. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Gagnon and his team and receptionist very good communication from the start to the end. I had a surgery on my left leg to removed a a big vain from top to bottom. They are extremely efficient and extremely professional. I would most definately recommand them anytimes. Thank you so much Dr. Gagnon and the entire teams for everything it was a awesome experience.
