t seems like my experience was typical. I was a patient for about 10 years from in the early 2000s. Mal was always running two hours late so I always made a point of being 90 minutes 'late'. He usually spent half his time looking out the window or filling out paperwork for other patients. He rarely seemed to paying attention. I was lucky to get 10 minutes of his time and usually had to wait another eight weeks for any follow up. At then first appointment he immediately (and incorrectly) assumed I had Bipolar Disorder when I actually had induced psychosis from Paroxetine prescribed by my GP {Paroxetine induced psychosis is is now very well documented.] Mal refused to discuss any issues that caused my depression/PTSD and put me on lithium. He never ordered any tests to monitor my lithium levels. My GP discovered I had acute lithium toxicity and was well on the way to suffering permanent kidney and thyroid damage. When I later mentioned this to Mal he didn't seem at all concerned despite being fully aware of the dangers. I ceased taking medication and my health and mental state improved massively. I eventually realised I was just giving him lot of money for a quick chat and stopped making further appointments.

Dr foxcroft is amazing hes the best trauma doctor in Qld, if your receptive to treatment he will do everything and anything to help you, he cares so much about his patient and sticks his neck our for them all the time, you can see by the callibar of the reviews here they are coming from people who didn't agree with his treatment and are incredibly mentally ill, don't let it scare you, he's the best and most empathetic psychiatrist I have come across.

The truth is that Malcolm is actually very switched on and knowledgeable. Hr will take on patients that other Doctors have had difficulty treating.

The problem is that he takes on far more patients than he can possibly manage (About half the clinic) which results in poor coverage of all his patient. There is always a line in New farm Clinic outside his office. It is not uncommon for inpatients to have to wait hours to see him. He never comes to see them. If they don't line up ( No appts by the way), they just won't see him.

He will see each patient for about 5 minutes max and is always distracted and often dismissive.

Patients are reluctant to bring up issues as they feel he is not listening or that they are only holding him up.

He also had some outdated ideas about minorities which hinder his judgement and understanding of his patients.

He probably has the best of intentions trying to help so many people but I think he would help a lot more if he reduced his patient load.

He’s been treating me since 2015 whilst i was leaving army , i have complete faith in him despite our occasional disagreements which is me not admitting what I need to do. Extremely knowledgeable and I wouldn’t be alive if he didn’t intervene many times when I needed to be admitted. Yes wait times frustrating. Staff always patient with me even when I have had outbursts. I have a long road ahead but comfortable I’m under his care. Thanks Mal.

He threatened to call child protection and take my 9 month old daughter because I’m anorexic!!!!!!! Screamed in my face for hours and said I did stuff I never did!!!! Just targeted me because I wanted to go home to my daughter. I hate him and will make sure he loses his job. The nurses suck and wouldn’t send me to a real hospital when my heart rate was high. Also wouldn’t let me out for a smoke when I was stressed. Worst place ever. Never going back. F them all.

Felt patronised and alienated. It has taken nearly 3 months to come back and rate this experience- I was treated with ECT at New Farm clinic which left me with major memory gaps. When you wanted to see him in hospital you had to wait in a line from 6:30am. Other doctors would go to peoples rooms. Do yourself a favour and give him a miss

Dr Foxcroft is the best Dr I have ever met and has never given up on me like other psychiatrists have. I have a pretty complex case but has always held hope for me when I’ve lost hope for myself. He’s a very honest person and doesn’t put up with any cr@p but that’s what has helped me get better and realise that what I’m doing is not normal (ED behaviours). He is always on your side and makes time for you, I believe he does have his favourable patients but is only interested in helping patients who actually want to get better and will put in the work. These negative reviews make me so frustrated as I personally believe they’re all written by people who can’t take tough love and haven’t given him an opportunity to properly treat them. Best Dr, he has saved my life.

Don’t waste your time on psychiatrists keeping you coming back for 10-20 years. You’re wasting your life and money. Years will go by and you’ll still be in the same position. Stop giving Dr Foxcroft your money and start living your life.

Dr Foxcroft made a heap of sense for certain things, but the rapport want at all there for me at all. Please people if the rapport isn’t there trust yourself and stay away!.. trust that niggling feeling - it’s all we have to guide us!! I prefer a relaxed, less regimented style. I found a beautiful psychologist, who I love and can speak to from the heart to, and she has helped me like no- one else could. If you feel it’s not right for you, you are probably right, trust yourself and look around until you find one that you blend with well. I’m sure hes has done some great work with some but stats prove that a good rapport with yr psychiatrist is 70% (or something like that - can’t remember exact stats) of whether their treatments will be successful or not. Good Luck!

Agree with reviews/comments about too many patients. Therefore doesn’t have the time to spend with each patient, leading to very short times of less than 8 minutes, which is inadequate for a psychiatric consultation to occur. Also appears bored and distracted, checking emails and other patients files and paperwork during the consultation, so is not very assuring! Not recommended.
Not very good with documentation, always losing or late with requested paperwork , probably due to disinterest or too many patients. Inpatient care is almost non-existent and verging on sub-standard care, something that New Farm Clinic should address.
