I saw Dr Hylton for a Pituitary Tumor. My Endocrinologist and Family Doctor both say the tumor should be removed due to it's size. It is already pushing my optic chiasm and causing vision problems. Even the MRI report states the tumor is pushing on my optic chiasm. According to Dry Hylton, I am not having issues with my "small tumor" since we did not find it due to looking for it. We "stumbled" upon it when doing a brain MRI. I explained to him we have been doing multiple test because I have been having a lot of unexplained ailments and vision problems. So while, no we did not do the MRI because we were specifically looking for a Pituitary Tumor, we were doing the MRI because something isn't right. His response to that was to shrug his shoulders & give me a smirk. According to him, the tumor isn't pushing on my optic chiasm enough right now. So I am to continue to monitor my vision as the tumor grows and when it is causing enough vision problems, then we will talk about removing it. Mind you, this will cause blindness once it gets to a certain point. In the mean time, I can come to his office every 6 months and have him do my MRI vs having it done where I live. Then I don't have to "run around to get the disc". We live 2.5 hours away (5 hours round trip). How is it in my favor to drive 5 hours to have him do the MRI vs my local hospital and having my PC Doctor get the results to know the new size of the tumor.
Dr Hylton was extremely rude, absolutely no bedside manner. He never acknowledged my husband in the room. It was clear within 30 seconds of him speaking that he had already made up his mind about me and that I was wasting his time. Extremely disappointing since KU is known for having such great medical care.
