Not interested in continuity of care!!!

Their website states “In some circumstances, if you have insurance with which we do not participate, self-payment may be an option but this would depend upon the specifics of your insurer and coverage.”

I’m on disability and had to change insurance. The center doesn’t participate with my insurance.

I was willing to pay the same amount as i would with my old insurance. This would have been the total amount as I had. Or met my deductible.

I had 3 appointments already scheduled and I would pay for them. I wasn’t asking for a discount and was willing to pay the insurance rate of pay.

Also when I called in November I was told by billing that I could self-pay for the two January appointments.

I was seeing Dr Ezra Cohen.

Dr. Cohen is a kind, caring man who takes the time to listen to you. He also follows through diligently with compassion. The staff at The Neurology Center is always busy yet very helpful and considerate. I have been his patient for nearly 10 years.

Not sure where to even start. First, they messed up the appointment and scheduled it for a time that the doctor wasn't available. But they didn't tell us until the morning of the appointment, so we had to wait another month before we could see the doctor (and this is after already waiting months to get the initial appointment that was incorrectly scheduled). When my parents finally made it to the appointment, they had to wait a loooong time before the doctor could see them Finally, when they were able to see the doctor, he was nothing but rude and impatient. He had no interest in answering any of their questions, scoffed at them as if they were stupid, and then rushed them out the door. I'm even wondering if he was discriminating against my parents because they are not native English speakers. He never even gave us a proper diagnosis, and he never followed up with us to discuss any of the test results. I realize that doctors are running a business and need to make money, but this doctor took it to another level. There are a lot of other doctors in this area that you can see instead - this one is not special in any way, at least not in any good way.

Terrible staff, terrible doctor! Stay away! Dr. Cohen spent less than 5 mins with me each time I saw him, and it always felt like the appointments were rushed. Moreover, he asked if I wanted to meet with his Physician's Assistant, Annise Claude, and that she would be less expensive - she was NOT. They charged the same amount when I met with her. Dr. Cohen's staff also assured me that I would only pay 20% of the EEG, his office assured me that they checked with my insurance that I had met my deductible - they had NOT. I was charged the full amount! Dr. Cohen and his staff are ONLY interested in generating $$$, neither he nor his staff seems to actually care about his patients.

What a horrible staff! I have not been able to keep my appointments due to my high-risk status for Covid-19. I am not willing to get sick and die because of this doctor and his impossible staff. I received an automated reminder that looked like spam on Saturday. I was concerned because the office required 24-hour cancellation in business days to not have a fee assessed to me. I was not given an option to cancel the appointment through this reminder call, and it would have been too late. I called the office this morning and rescheduled for late July. I received another call informing me that even though I rescheduled, I would be assessed a "no-show fee". I explained that I had not received any reminder calls and that the one on Saturday came from an unattended line with a caller ID of "Hagerstown." I do not answer calls from unknown caller IDs and have told their office that they needed to fix this issue. The woman who called me argued with me and told me that a message went out to me on June 22nd, which I never received–maybe because I thought that it was spam. This woman would have none of it. So I cancelled my appointment and told her to try to get a fee from me! Now that I see the ratings on this doctor and his staff, I am relieved that I will not be seeing this doctor. I have been sheltering in place since March and have gone out twice. Each time, the people around me congregated too closely to me and to each other, and when I objected, I was ridiculed and called names.

I needed Dr. Cohen's medical advice regarding a very unsettling symptom that cropped up out of the blue -- and which I thought could be a side effect of my neurologic medication. Yet, he neglected to return my phone calls and refused see me! Finally I went to the ER, where I learned I was in a precarious situation - DUE TO THE NEURO MEDICINE. My advice: Don't rely on him.

If I met this man on the street I would guess his occupation was a lawyer. Very condescending, scoffed at your symptoms and complaints. He was simply bored and just wanted you to go to his sleep clinic. Very defensive if you say - but I saw my Primary last week and my BP was no where close to your reading. Can't believe he is in the top 10 neurologists in the DC area *sigh* Our health care system is very broken. Profits over well-being and healing.
