He has been my doctor since I came to Toronto in 1988. Has walked me through cancer, liver failure, and many lesser ailments. Yes, you have to wait to see him sometimes - so what? Steve cares about his patients deeply, and has vast experience - difficult to duplicate these days. I have referred any number of people to him looking for a GP

If you're an atractive 40+ female, he might have an affair with you. He had an affair with a staff member at an hospital where he was working and was a married man at the time. So he left that hospital. Nice guy!

Dr. Fried is never available so he must hire a better receptionist!! I can’t deal with her anymore. Besides the fact that she is rude and talks about health which she knows nothing about, she is unprofessional! Never calls back, don’t even answer the damn phone. She asked me to send her by mail my last lab results and still no news - it’s been 3 weeks… Get out Miss Lazy! Dr. Fried cares only for his patients at the hospital, the rest can die. No wait, he’ll do the minimum of the minimum just to get paid until you die slowly.

I have been a patient of Dr. Fried for the last 3 years. His diagnosis and conclusions have been verified/confirmed by the specialists he referred me to. In other words the specialists agreed with what he stated or prescribed to me and this tells me he knows his stuff. I have had no significant issues in terms of Dr. Fried or his receptionist being too difficult or curt or hard to work with. Everyone is under pressure and has a bad day but generally they have both been patient and helpful and they seem to try their best. So far I am happy to be his patient and appreciate his help !!

It's a problem when it takes an hour to get through feelings of anxiety because you don't know what mood the receptionist will be in. Been a patient for many years and overall had a positive experience but over the past couple of years Dr. Fried has been more abrasive with his attitude and dismissive when I've brought in health concerns. Rarely orders tests. Thankfully another doctor ordered lab work for me which revealed why I was having health problems that he just dismissed as nothing. It's a problem when you find yourself going to a walk-in clinic when you're sick because you don't want to bother your family doctor because he says he's very busy helping those "who are really sick and need his help" and leaves you feeling guilty. If it wasn't for emergency and walk-ins I wouldn't have found out I had health issues that required medication and surgery because he dismissed my symptoms.

I've been seeing Dr. Fried for 17 years and he's always been helpful and supportive. My issue is with his rude receptionist who is a gatekeeper you need to get through to get help. She's not a doctor but very nosey and judgemental about my health and needs. She threatened to discontinue a medication I temporarily need that has been very helpful until I can get in for surgery. That's not her place. I have to have someone call her on my behalf when possible because of the rude, judgemental and threatening behaviour. Dr. Fried and his patients deserve better than this kind of treatment. Shouldn't be afraid to call your doctor with a health issue because you don't want to deal with someone that makes you feel worse.

Years of misdiagnosis almost cost hubby his life. Blamed everything on weight instead of looking further and doing tests. Turned out to be congestive heart failure and almost died.

Seriously - he should have retired years ago. Has caused long lasting problems with multiple health conditions due to improper diagnosis.
