Dr Sara Taman has been our family doctor from five years at Albany. During this time we moved to Brampton from Toronto but we did not change our family doctor. She is retiring early next year and we ( me and my husband) wish her all the best. However, we will be missing her a lot. Dr Taman is very caring and she had always supported me like a good counselor during the rough time. She is experienced and has always handled all our health issues very well.

We wish her all the best and hopefully we find our next doctor like her.

Dr. Taman has been my Family doctor for over 5years...but I have known her for almost 20 years.
She is very caring and approachable. She goes above and beyond in regards to patient care.
Her words are comforting and she is very knowledgeable with all the health issues I have confronted her with over the years.
I received a letter in the mail informing me that Dr. Taman will be retiring. I wish her all the best but I am very sad. I guess we all have to move on sometime.....I am hoping that the next doctor I see will be just as caring and approachable.

Horrible experience at the bay clinic. Very unprofessional. I came in to get an IUD trimmed. She checked it and said it was in place. When trying to trim it, she pulled it out and then claimed it was cause it was probably not in place. Therefore, if she didn't try to trim it, I would've left with a misplaced IUD? A misplaced IUD decreases the protection of the birth control and it can perforate my uterus. In addition, when she inserted another IUD she left the string extremely long. It could be felt about half an inch from the vaginal opening. I came to get my IUD trimmed, instead I had to relive the horrible experience of getting it reinserted and an IUD with a string twice as long that hurts my partner. Do not recommend this doctor at all.

Patient's update
This comment is certainly surprising. I remember this patient and the staff and physician tried very hard to please she and her and her partner that day. It was actually a Friday PM or evening and we had to stay late to ensure all was looked after before the patient left. Often patients would be asked to book another appointment to
deal with one of these minor compilations.
The Bay Centre is a very good quality medical facility but it is a major teaching clinic so there are a lot of learners and the medical staff have to be prepared to help them along and correct minor errors that might occur. Apparently this patient had an IUD inserted by a learner and it ended up quite low in the canal. Contrary to the patient's statement that it might have perforated her uterus or had reduced birth control protection, this position would not have caused either of these problems. I thought she had been told that at the time. The only problem with the position would be that it might have come out later on and then she would have had to replace it and pay for a new IUD. The string in this case had been cut very short, I gather at her request or the request of her sexual partner. The request that day was that it be cut even shorter. They were advised that this could be difficult and future removal might require further difficulty but as they both insisted an attempt was made to cut the string shorter. Manipulation of the string caused it to twist and due to its low position, extrude through the os. At that point it did have to be removed. We managed to replace the IUD at no cost to the patient within an hour. As they had expressed dislike for the previous length of the string, I opted to leave it the usual length as most patients find that it will just tuck in the fornix and not be any problem. You can always cut a string of the usual length shorter but there is no way to make it longer and as I said most people find this a good length. I had previously cut a very short string flush with the cervix in the past for a patient after she told me that she had had the string shortened and had then found it more uncomfortable. In that case I could cut the string because the IUD was higher in the uterus.
Medical staff are always concerned when a sexual partner comes in demanding a medical procedure for a patient and shows little concern for the actual patient. I therefore, tried to be certain that the wishes of the actual patient were taken into account. This may be the source of the dissatisfaction.
However I find it very odd that we would be given low ratings for punctuality, knowledge, helpfulness after this encounter.I can only hope that a long IUD string that hurts her partner but may be shortened any time may be the worse of her medical problems.

Dr. Taman is our family doctor and has been for a number of years. She is a kind and personable doctor with compassionate bedside manner. We all feel at ease with here, like she is member of the family! Wait times and clinic staff problems abound everywhere and are a function of the public healthcare system. I am happy to wait to see Dr. Taman if need be. Outstanding family doctor.

I have had Dr. Taman as my family doctor for nearly 10 years. I find her very personable, gentle and caring. I feel at ease with her, as if she was a relative. Punctuality is fine - most appointments are close to scheduled time; only once did I have to wait slightly longer for an appointment scheduled towards the end of the day (I thought it was still reasonable but she apologized sincerely for the wait).

The Albany clinic where she works is nice, bright and clean (not like some clinics that make you feel sicker just being there). The lab downstairs might have a long wait time depending on the time of day - but this is not the doctor's fault.

The negative reviews on this site surprise me - I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with Dr. Taman and highly recommend her.

She is my doctor and my daughters doctor. She was very compassionate with me about a number of medical issues I had in a way that I really appreciated. She is kind with my little daughter and she always tries to make some conversation with you to get to know you which is nice. I always read up on medical conditions we might have and I always find that what she tells me is exactly what the current research is. I also really like that she is not a pill pusher. While it might feel weird to go to a doctor sick and then go home with nothing but the advice to put a certain cream on it or that it is a virus, she has been right every single time. I now think to myself that just going to her makes me better because usually a few days later I am better even if I have been sick a long time.

I recommend Dr. Taman as well. I have always found her to be caring and compassionate; and being a mature woman, is able to relate to those of us in the same age group.

I met with this doctor only once and found her judgemental. Her response to my occasional smoking was "I just don't understand why you people do that"- Hey doc, why not ask sincerely why a patient has a habit or behaviour rather than making them feel judged? She suggested that I couldn't necessarily trust my long-term partnership because we aren't married. I found her old fashioned, judgemental and offensive. The result of those kinds of comments and attitudes is that your patients will simply withhold information that they feel you might judge and their health is at risk as a result. With something as personal and important as your health and wellbeing it's a terrible feeling to be treated this way by a doctor. Left my appointment feeling less well than when I went in.

I have been seeing Dr Taman for about 4 years and I think she is fantastic and wonderful at her job. She is compassionate, caring, always listens and is almost always on time. I have since had a son and she has been wonderful with him too. I just hope she will stay in practice for many years to come as medicine is her calling.

Brushed off every problem I came to her with by saying "oh it's probably blah, blah, blah." does not make refferals or follow up. She brushed off one problem I had and I ended up in emerge with an ovarion cyst. Very upset with this doctor.

Patient's update
I try to always do an appropriate assessment of medical problems and investigate as needed. I make referrals when indicated and follow-up on tests when appropriate.

Patient's update
I have no information about this issue. I really think this patient should come and discuss it with me so it could be clarified as opposed to writing unpleasant and anonymous comments online. However such is the nature of these websites. Doctors are expected to take time to try to explain things when they must second guess what patients are talking about.
