Had muscle spasms and pain in my back due to heavy lifting of boxes in moving. He suggested breathing exercises when I had the muscle spasms and pain.It got progressively worse, went to him several more times.I asked about muscle relaxers he suggested again breathing exercises for the pain. My condition of piriformis syndrome is now in its 7th year after I finally went to another dr. If Dr. Bhat had prescribed muscle relaxers I would not need 9-10 trigger pt. injections once a month. He doesn't believe in prescribing medications.I'm glad he is not my gynecologist.Probably would not have given me an epidural for birth contractions. My quality of life is a 4 out of 10. I wished I had sued him earlier for "doing me harm".

I am surprised about some reviews. They don't sescribe Dr. Bhat and his staff at all. They are very welcoming and very considerate. Dr. Bhat takes time to listen to you and do care. Everytime I was at his Office his staff and his wife were pleasant and never rushed me. I did not feel his background affected his competence.SP.

The other day I stopped by his office, and even though he was fully booked, I waited about 10min for him to work me in. I'm already feeling much better. My whole family sees him and none of us have ever had a problem with the care he provides. He is flexible when you have money issues and he is not one of those doctors who pushes medicine on you. Almost everytime one of us is sick he gives us a natural remedy (green tea for headaches, a salt gargle for a sore throat, a recipie for tea that helps with the flu, a stretch to ease pain etc)to complement treatment. He is also very uderstanding of my veganism and has never once suggested that I need to eat eggs or fish, as others have. After reading the comments, I can't help but think I've got the wrong doctors page. His ratings elswhere are high. I know he has patients that smoke and I couldn't imagine him turning someone away for that. As far as his office, it does look like a house that was renovated, but it is clean and comfortable.

Staff do not seem happy(they don't smile), books more appointments than time in the day, does not have a good bedside manner. Don't make you feel like he is actually helping you with your problem. Never seem to get the help I needed and when I told him of finding by another doctor, I received a letter stating he would no longer be my physician.

He tends to jump to his own conclusions without really listening to you. Misdiagnosis seems to be the norm. Told my mother-in-law that she had food poisoning, and she died of a brain aneurysm. Told my wife she had irritable bowel syndrome and various stomach viruses for over two years and she nearly died of diverticulitis. God forbid you are a cigarette smoker and call him on his opinion. You will get told that if you would only quit smoking, all your health care woes would be solved. Then you will receive a letter stating that due to your not quitting, he will no longer be your doctor and that he thinks that you were only coming to him for pain medications. It made him mad when I told him that if he could not figure out what was wrong with my back to please give me a referral to a back specialist because I DIDN'T WANT TO LIVE ON PAIN MEDS THE REST OF MY LIFE!

Office is rundown and depressing. Dr. did minimum or less in annual check-up. No pelvic, no rectal. Did not discuss results, though some were not normal. Sent them by computer with no followup. Protested very unpleasantly when I asked for one. Is always abrupt with me, does not like questions, seems prejudiced against alternative lifestyles, perhaps because of his traditional Indian background. Does not take credit cards. Seems very frugal and it shows in his office and practice. Puts several prescriptions on one print out, so pharmacy must fill or file all at once, which you may not want to do I would never recommend him and have stopped using him. I think my health has suffered because of his attitudes and methods.
