When I took my oldest daughter to see this dr Gray, he was terribly rude to us both. We left. I decided to go to dr. Shaltry who we should have just gone to in the first place, since then all 3 of my kids have gone to and love dr. Shaltry!! I'm warning you, don't go to dr. Gray, him and his staff are terrible.

We first started out with another Orthodontist, and things went bad within two months. We first caught him overcharging us, and then charging us for services he did not even provide. In fact, we actually paid for the same service two times before we realized what was happening, and in the end, we had to take him to court and got all our money back, including attorney fees.

I am a physician (surgeon) myself who had just moved to Port Angeles, and first tried a doctor whose last name starts with an "S." This first Orthodontist was horribly greedy we learned quickly. It was all about the money with him.

We then found out about Dr. Gray from one of the staff members at the physician's office where I began practicing. This staff member told us she had treated her children with Dr. Gray. She then also went on to tell me that Dr. Gray had treated hundreds of foster children from all over the Olympic Peninsula from Forks to Bremerton, and all for free in his over 30 years of practice in this community. I found him to be an honest, kind to our children and did excellent work.

Dr. Gray is the finest Orthodontist we could have imagined taking our children to. Dr. Gray treated three of our four children and they all have perfect teeth to this day. Dr. Gray was very reasonable; in fact, his price was 70 percent of the other person. Sadly, however, in late 2010 he started having some apparent medical issues. I being a practicing physician myself could see very plainly that he was developing some abnormal behaviors, towards the end of treating our third child. Before our fourth child was of age for Orthodontist services, he was diagnosed with a rare form of Alzheimer's that greatly affected his mind and thought processes and he was forced to bring in an Orthodontist from outside the area to finish with his current patients and he was forced to fully retire in 2012 and closed his practice completely.

I still keep in touch with Dr. Gray and his wife, although Dr. Gray condition of Alzheimer's has taken its toll and just now being of legal retirement age, he requires full time care, unable to provide even the basics for himself. It is sad to see someone who gave so much to this community become so ill so early in life. It is also sad that some patients experienced Dr. Gray's abnormal behavior before he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Dr. Gray amazingly has five M.D-PhD's, including being a licensed MD to practice general medicine, a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (specialists in trauma related facial reconstructive surgery), Orthodontist - Dentofacial Orthopedics. He was asked by a local church to come to Port Angeles, as a good Orthodontist was badly needed in town. He decided to settle down in Port Angles to provide the highly needed Orthodontist - Dentofacial Orthopedics services to our community for well over 30 years. However, he still traveled to Seattle and other major cities when called upon in difficult cases to perform Maxillofacial Surgery, as Dr Gray was well known across the US as being the top specialist in this field when difficult and emergency facial reconstructive surgery was called for. Thank you Dr. Gray for all you have done and given to this community in its time of need.

I have had 2 children go here, still currently going as well. All the staff are very polite and friendly. Yes, his office is outdated and he is old, but everything is done right and very affordable. Others in town make you pay a ton out of pocket and per month (along with having to get a loan). Dr Gray has very affordable plans for payments. For the other people's comments: they must be made of money to go to Shaltry, because that's all they care about (yes, we went there first before changing to Dr. Gray).

Dr. William Gray is extremely unprofesional. He yelled at my 14 year old daughter when her tongue touched a tooth that he had just dried. He lies and gossips. Both children have left there in tears. He extends the "timeline" for years, and charges more. Uses old methods. We left and finished our orthodontia with a true professional: Dr. Dana Shaltry. DO NOT GO TO DR.GRAY!
