I suspect that all the positive reviews have been written by Alex Harper himself!!

I have been seeing Dr Harper for around three years for ongoing supervision of long term RVO
I have complete confidence in his treatment of my situation and I would absolutely recommend him to any friend or family member of mine

Such a pity that Dr Harper wasn't as accomodating and helpful towards my mother as he was to the person who wrote the review below. It's also such a pity that he didn't give my mother ample information regarding her serious eye condition or any gentle feedback and advice on options 'or treatment instead of repeatedly telling her to: 'Put it in writing!' whenever she tried to ask him a question. It'svalso a great shame that he never kindly offered my mother to contact with any questions whenever needed, and was too busy to answer any of her questions complaining that he had been "Lecturing all morning without any lunch," and told her once again to: 'Put it in writing."

Taking my 8 year old to Dr Harper was a very positive experience. Initial (and all subsequent) contact with the office was easy - the staff are wonderful. The first appointment was thorough. Dr Kennedy was kind and he made my daughter feel comfortable and calm. He read her fears well and gave gentle feedback and advice on options for treatment or surgery without causing her anxiety. There was no pressure but ample information and the kindest offer to contact with any questions whenever needed. A genuine, caring and considerate professional who was never too busy to answer my questions. My daughter ended up having tonsils and adenoids removed. She now sleeps soundly - no more snoring and no more waking unsettled. No more sore throats/twitching nose and no more trouble eating. The recovery was quick. I recommend asking for Dr Harper if you need an ENT. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely appalling bedside manner. Very abrupt and completely refused to answer any of my questions. I have a serious eye condition which has deteriorated due to not receiving any treatment or having any follow-up visits organised by this man, who is incidentally, the head of the Retina Unit at the Eye & Ear Hospital. After I saw him in what only could be described as a very unpleasant consultation, he refused to arrange any further hospital appointments for me.

Dr Alex Harper is extremely rude, nasty, unhelpful and very arrogant. I saw him for a consult at the Eye & Ear Hospital regarding a serious eye condition I have and found him to be completely uncaring. When I asked him if he could please explain something which I didn't understand, his response was: "PUT IT IN WRITING." I had been previously told by a different Retina Specialist at the Eye and Ear that I could go blind with my eye condition, and when I tried to ask Dr Harper's opinion about this, he became extremely agitated and told me that he didn't want a running commentary of what the previous doctor had said, and that maybe I should go back out to the (Outpatients Desk) and request to see that doctor. He also became very annoyed and complained to me that he had been lecturing students all morning and that he still hadn't had lunch yet. (In hindsight, I should have told him that I had my two children with me - one of which was sick with tonsilitis and a fever, and we had been waiting for over 2 hours in the waiting room and we also hadn't eaten lunch.) Before the consult finished, he once again told me that he didn't want a running commentary re what the other doctor had said and repeated that if I wanted something explained, to "Put it in writing." This whole terrible consult took place in front of the Hospital Patient Liaison Officer who was present at the time. Dr Harper proceeded to walk out of the door, the Liason Officer called out after him asking: "What do we do about _____________ ?" to which he very flippantly retorted: "WHATEVER!" As far as I'm concerned, this doctor shouldn't be practicing at all as he has no communication or people skills whatsoever, but what is much more concerning is that he is playing with peoples eye sight and his complete lack of interest, concern, care and empathy is absolutely appalling and downright disgusting.
